GCA juniors are hitting the ground running with basic technical skills that will help them develop into strong illustrators and designers. This week, we’ve started with graphite techniques with our set of pencils to blend and create tone value. Instructors pull groups together to demonstrate and answer questions. We’ve also started in Adobe Illustrator learning different tools and how to use them through live demonstrations and instructor led videos. ✏️🖥️💙

Last week was the SkillsUSA National Leadership + Skills Conference in Atlanta, GA, with nearly 7,000 students competing in their respective fields and 19,000 attendees. After continuously advancing starting at the local competitions this past winter, we had 2 GCA students earn a spot to compete at the national level against the best of the best from all 50 states, including students from Puerto Rico.

Both of our students made top 10 in the country! Help us congratulate the following students:

Brook Russell (Northmont, Sr./Grad) 7th place in Extemporaneous Speaking. She also pulled double duty as a lead voting delegate in officer elections for the state of Ohio!

Olivia Wollenhaupt (West Carrollton, Sr./Grad) 9th place in Advertising Design.

We are so incredibly proud of these two ladies for their hard work and dedication. It is not an easy path to get to this level. They couldn’t have represented GCA, MVCTC, and the state of Ohio any better. We can’t wait to see what they do next at the collegiate level! 🎉🏅♥️🤍💙⭐️
