It’s a great opportunity to see the forest transition from dusk to dark, learn about luna moths and star (and moon!) gaze. Hope you’ll join us!

The sun is also a star! Our last Nature & Me class until the fall semester was about the Sun! Eileen read a few stories before leading the group in a craft project!

We will be back in the fall with GiGI and her seasonal roster of nature and animal themed classes for children 18 months to 4 years (and their adult!) Enrollment information for the six-week classes will be available in August.

We love that he has stayed in the nature and education field with his position and were so happy to see him again! And thank you to Eileen for her 3+ years caring for our raptors!

Our 2026 Outstanding Volunteers The Boardwalk Boys” got back to work today fixing our aviary. Last Thursday we honored Kenneth Albert, Peter Kukle, Richard Oram and Jeff Russell at our annual dinner for their tireless dedication to Flat Rock. This dream team of volunteers have built our 700-foot ADA boardwalk, consulted on our Jones Road Restoration Project, fixed fences, mended stairs and more. Today they worked with our Land Steward Cam to replace weather worn wood at the aviary with new Black Locust lumber which is durable and weather resistant.

We are very grateful and lucky to have these awesome volunteers. On behalf of our rescue raptors and everyone here at Flat Rock Brook - thank you!

Not the best sign that these robin eggs are on the ground like this, as most egg shells from successful hatchings remain in the nest. We hope to catch some more encouraging spring baby photos soon!
