Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels

Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels The Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels The founders of the Organization believe that certain social problems cannot be solved, only mitigated.

The Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels (the ³Organization²), a Colorado non-profit public benefit corporation, is a charitable organization established in February, 2013 for philanthropic purposes. The Organization was established as a response to the mass school shootings that this country has had the misfortune to witness, most recently in Newtown, Ct. In that spirit, the Organization intends to lau

nch a program wherein off-duty and armed law-enforcement personnel, in plain clothes will be dispatched to schools in and around Colorado. These police officers will be required to successfully complete a training program designed by two of the founding members, who are law enforcement officers. The Organization will announce what it is doing through the media in an attempt to let the public know that if anyone chooses to enter on to school property with the intent of committing a violent act, they will chance being confronted by immediate and armed resistance. The goal is to help to make the lives of our children safer and secure. In addition, participating schools will receive warning stickers and decals that can be displayed outside walls and common entrances. The warning stickers or signs are meant to notify strangers of the possible presence of a Rocky Mountain Guardian Angel plainclothes and armed police officer monitoring the facility. They will serve as a visual deterrent¹ for potential criminal trespassers and provide a first line of defense, besides peace of mind, to the children and faculty of participating schools. The founders of the organization have been in contact with local law enforcement and school boards, who have expressed an interest in this program. In fact, various school superintendents in the community have offered their financial support. The Organization will develop programs to empower children, by teaching children how to protect themselves, and how to make responsible choices. The organization will educate and train children to take pride in their communities and to protect their neighborhoods. The ultimate goal of the Organization is to ensure that children, our most precious resource, can enjoy a safe environment in which they can learn and rise to their full potential and develop self esteem and confidence and a sense of safety upon entering school grounds. The Organization intends to develop a website and make use of social media to inform the public of the Organization and its mission. The Organization will encourage responsible, law-abiding citizens to become members of the Organization and to get involved in responsibly securing our communities. The Organization¹s president is a law enforcement officer who regularly trains civilians in the proper use of firearms.

Great to see! Very encouraging to see so many helping a very deserving veteran.

"Hallett was one month into his first deployment in Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010 when he lost both of his legs above the knee, his right arm above the elbow, and the thumb and middle finger on his left hand in an improvised-explosive device blast. The national nonprofit, Homes for Our Troops, coordinated with NoCO Custom Homes, a local and veteran-owned and operated custom homebuilder in Fort Collins, to build Hallett a home that would help him live comfortably.

Hallett and his wife Rachel married in July, and if all goes according to plan, they will move into their new four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the 1800 block of Galapagos Court this winter."

We are thrilled to see the Larimer County sherrif's department step up to provide a security solution for their schools. We believe that government entities, particularly the sheriff's office, has a vital role in protecting our most precious resource, our children, while they are in school.

This is why we formed the Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels - to protect our kids. Most counties, school districts, and charter schools throughout the state of Colorado have yet to provide armed security on campus. This is where our services come in.

Volunteer reserve sheriff's deputies will begin patrolling elementary schools in Larimer County starting in late April.

We are a non-profit 501c3 that could use your support. We are currently running a deficit and being funded by private donations. As you can probably appreciate our insurance costs are substantial. Please consider partnering us to protect our most precious resource - our children. Currently all our officers are working on a volunteer basis because we are are struggling to fund our insurance costs alone. Would you consider making a donation?

Donations are tax-deductible.

Please help the Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels protect our children. Donations will go directly toward the efforts of placing a barrier around our children when they are vulnerable outside of the safety of home.

Are you frustrated with school boards that have done nothing to protect our children in the 'gun free zones' we call schools today? RMGA offers a low-cost solution with highly trained officers. Our approach is difficult to criticize given we use active peace officers, have very high standards for training, and are much lower in cost than a School Resource Officer. Deputy James Englert is an example of the heroes we need in schools for safety. Because of the always present law enforcement officers at the Arapahoe high school, the person committing this horrendous crime knew he only had a short window of opportunity.

Many school systems, and/or law enforcement agencies, do not have the time or resources to allocate officers to every school. This is where the Rocky Mountain Guardian Angels can assist. We strive to protect children by putting more certified law enforcement officers in schools to help deter crimes like this, for a fraction of what typical agencies charge. We rely on volunteers and donations to help bring the cost of law enforcement presence down, while maximizing the number of officers in schools. Certified, active law enforcement officers are needed in every school.

Thank you, Deputy Englert, for your service.
