It is with heavy hearts that our city comes together to mourn the loss of Mayor Pro Tem Joe Anderson, who served District 3 on City Council since 2019.

Mayor Pro Tem Anderson cared deeply about Englewood and the people who call our city home. His commitment to serving others was evident in all he did, from championing housing and pedestrian safety to supporting neighbors through local outreach initiatives. He brought compassion, warmth and a genuine desire to bring people together to his work on City Council and throughout the community.

His loss will be deeply felt across Englewood. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Becca, their seven children, family, friends, colleagues and the many people whose lives he touched through his service and kindness.

A public memorial service celebrating Mayor Pro Tem Anderson’s life and legacy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Foothills Bible Church in Littleton.

On Aug. 17, Englewood City Council approved mandatory outdoor watering restrictions in response to worsening drought conditions and historically low water supplies across Colorado. Englewood is joining other Colorado water providers in taking action to help conserve this limited resource.

Beginning Aug. 18, Englewood Utilities water customers may water outdoors only on their two designated days and only before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

Watering schedule:
💧Odd-numbered addresses: Monday and Thursday
💧Even-numbered addresses: Tuesday and Friday

Water only when your landscape needs it, avoid runoff and overspray, and check for leaks. Trees, shrubs and gardens can be watered as needed using a hand-held hose or low-volume irrigation, such as drip irrigation.

The city is also conserving water across its operations. Parks and other landscaped areas are also reducing watering. City facilities and operations will continue looking for additional ways to reduce water use during these drought conditions.

Every drop counts. Learn more about the watering schedule, conservation tips and FAQs at englewoodco.gov/waterschedule

***MEDIA RELEASE***
A Colorado parolee is back in prison for the murder of Margaret “Meg” Eberhart in Englewood back in 2022.

After the case initially went unsolved, additional investigative and forensic work (including new DNA testing) helped investigators build the case.

This sentence provides accountability for Meg’s death and recognizes the devastating impact her loss has had on her family. We are grateful to our law enforcement and forensic partners for their persistence in helping us pursue justice.

The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has completed its review of an officer-involved shooting at an Englewood Denny’s and determined the involved officer’s use of force was legally justified.

On October 6, 2025, officers responded to reports of a man threatening people inside an Englewood Denny's with a large knife. During the encounter, the man refused repeated commands to drop the weapon and attacked two officers, prompting a third officer to fire a single shot to stop the threat.
