Among some **peculiar** collectors out there there is real fascination for mortuary arts and funerary objects. This piece, from Ancient Egypt, came to me for "cosmetic surgery" after undergoing much needed structural repair -- for a long time the wood had been rottening and the whole piece was collapsing onto itself. Once skillfully stabilized by furniture restorers, I embarked on the compensation for losses of the design. Missing areas were reconstructed based on extensive documentation provided by the research of a reputable art historian. Voilá, something that a few thousand years ago functioned as a coffin will be housed behind glass as a valued decorative piece at a private home. 🤷♀️
