Over the past several days, Englewood Firefighters placed flags at the graves of our deceased members who served before us. This tradition ties us to our past. And this afternoon, our honor guard once again had the privilege of leading the Memorial Day Parade down Palisade Avenue. Never forget the sacrifice of those who gave their life for our country.

It’s EMS Week! EFD recognizes the men and women who serve in EMS treating the sick and injured of Englewood. Many of EFD’s bravest have served as EMS providers and some even continue to maintain their EMT certifications. In fact at one time, EFD ran its own basic life support ambulance before Englewood Health took on that role. Have a great week! 🫡🚑

Englewood Firefighters spent the first of two days conducting live burn training at the Bergen County Fire Academy at the Law & Public Safety Institute today. This type of training is essential to keep our young department sharp and prepared. It is funded by a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant, meaning the training is at no cost to Englewood taxpayers. The grant pays for numerous trips to the academy over the next two years.

Earlier this week, Englewood Firefighters responded mutual aid to Ridgefield Park for a multiple alarm fire on Brinkerhoff Avenue. While battling the fire, one of EFD’s bravest was injured and transported to the hospital for evaluation. We are happy to report that he is doing well and will be coming back to work shortly. 📸 D. Another busy weekend at the EFD! This morning 11 Firefighters and Officers attended a basement fire class taught by our very own Rob Moran, who was our Chief of Department from 2000-2010. This class was sponsored by the Fort Lee Volunteer Fire Department. Not 15 minutes after the class ended, EFD responded to Leonia for what else but a basement fire! Englewood Firefighters assisted in making a quick extinguishment to the fire in the single family dwelling. Jersey Guys 📸 Fort Lee FD / C. Torello

This week, our friends from All Hands Fire have been at headquarters training some of our newest firefighters in pump operations. This is our foundational training to start driving at the EFD. The instructors teach the recruits proper pumping theories, how to draft from static water sources, how to pump to aerial devices and more. Once complete, these members will begin behind the wheel training and be qualified pump operators soon. 📸 T. Finholt
