Today, we join millions in remembering Dolly Parton. ❤️

While the world knows her as a legendary singer, songwriter and storyteller, we are especially grateful for her lifelong commitment to children's literacy through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Because of her vision and generosity, children in our community and around the world have had books placed directly into their hands and homes, helping inspire a lifelong love of reading. Arapahoe Libraries has been proud to partner with the program to help make that impact possible.

Thank you, Dolly, for the stories, the songs and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to fall in love with reading.

Your legacy will live on through generations of readers. 📚❤️

💡 𝟲𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Libraries have always been about connecting people with information—but the way we do it has changed dramatically over the years.

From introducing a computerized catalog in 1979 to launching our first website in 1997, adding a new bookmobile in 2010 and welcoming Rover in 2025, Arapahoe Libraries has continued to evolve alongside the community it serves.

Technology, formats and services may change, but our commitment to providing access to knowledge, creativity and connection remains the same.

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we're reflecting on how far we've come—and looking forward to the future.

🏛️ 𝟲𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

Since 1966, Arapahoe Libraries has grown alongside the communities it serves. Over the years, we've opened new library locations, expanded services and adapted to meet changing community needs. From Southglenn Library opening in 1970 to Castlewood, Koelbel, Eloise May and Sheridan libraries, each new chapter helped bring library services closer to more people throughout Arapahoe County.

For many community members, these buildings have been more than libraries—they've been places to learn, create, connect and belong.

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we're reflecting on the stories that have unfolded within our walls and the people who helped make them possible.

🚐📚 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻: 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮.

Sixty years ago, a vision to bring books and learning opportunities to more people sparked the creation of what would become Arapahoe Libraries. In 1966, Jeanne Davies helped launch the library district with a single bookmobile, a small collection of books and a commitment to serving communities across Arapahoe County.

What started on wheels has grown into the libraries, services and spaces our community enjoys today—but our mission remains the same: connecting people with stories, resources and each other.

As we celebrate 𝟲𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, we're looking back at the people and moments that made it all possible. ❤️
