Crawford Circuit Court would like to announce Jessica Nelson has been named the Chief Probation Officer and Sherry Newton has been named the Crawford County Juvenile Probation and Truancy Officer.
Jessica has over 20 years of experience with our probation department, has directed our mental health services, and has done a tremendous job as Interim Chief over the past several weeks.
Sherry brings years of experience, in dealing with youth in our county and school system, to our department and has hit the ground running.
We created the truancy program this year using funds from the restricted opioid fund, money given to our county to be used for drug prevention and abatement. We believe keeping kids in school, out of harmful home situations, and away from illegal substances is one of the best ways these funds can benefit our community as a whole and Sherry is the person to meet the challenge head on.
These two ladies are assets to Crawford Circuit Court and we look forward to what the future holds for Crawford County with them leading the way.
