As Health Education Week (October 18–24) comes to a close, we’re celebrating our Health Educators and the important role they play in keeping our communities healthy and informed!

Meet Shay Tarrant, one of our Health Educators! From school health education to community wellness programs, Shay is passionate about sharing knowledge, building relationships and learning from the communities she serves.

The Garfield County Health Department is working with Enid Public Schools following the identification of active tuberculosis (TB) at Enid High School. Not all students have been exposed to TB, and not every student needs to be tested.

Public health officials conducted a contact investigation to identify individuals who may have been exposed. Identified contacts were notified of their exposure and provided information on testing and follow-up.

What parents need to know:
- Families of students identified as potential contacts were notified directly.
- Those notified should follow the testing instructions provided.
- Students who were not identified as contacts generally do not need testing because of this school exposure.

If your child has symptoms of TB or you have concerns about a possible exposure, contact your healthcare provider or the Garfield County Health Department at 580-233-0650.
