Spotlight on Visit Enid Director Rob Houston, who is also the Vice Chair of the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association.

Rob’s vision, dedication, and leadership have helped transform Enid into a premier destination for tourism, events, and economic development, and we are proud to see his contributions recognized at the state level.

We have exceptional people making an extraordinary impact on our community and across the state.

Executive Committee Spotlight

Meet Rob Houston, Vice Chair of the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association and Director of Visit Enid.

Since helping launch Visit Enid in 2010, Rob has been a driving force in elevating Enid’s profile as a destination for visitors, events, and economic growth. He is especially proud of helping put Enid back in the spotlight and supporting the success of major events like the NJCAA Division II World Series, which will now remain in Enid through 2038.

Rob is excited about the future of Oklahoma tourism and the opportunity for communities across the state to continue growing through strong industry partnerships and leadership.

Fun fact: Rob was once a member of the Washington Generals basketball team for a night and even made two free throws during a Harlem Globetrotters game in front of 6,000 fans!

Thank you, Rob, for your leadership and dedication to tourism across Oklahoma!

Do you live in one of Enid’s Historic Districts?

The City of Enid has two main Historic Districts:
• Kenwood Historic District
• Waverly Historic District

If your property is located in one of these districts, you may need a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) before making exterior changes to your building or site.

Why is a COA important?
Property owners in historic districts follow design guidelines that help preserve the character of these neighborhoods for current and future generations.

A COA may be:
• Issued administratively by Community Development staff, or
• Reviewed at a public meeting of the Historic Preservation Committee

Obtaining a COA before work begins helps protect the historic character of your property and the neighborhood.

If you have questions about historic preservation or want to find out whether your property is in a historic district, contact the Community Development Office at 580-616-7213.
