0305L-THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2026

NOTICE- THE AI THAT I USE FOR MY “WEATHER AND TRUTH GRAPHIC” APPARENTLY HAS A HEAT RELATED ISSUE THIS MORNING. HOPEFULLY IT’S FIXED BY FRIDAY MORNING. 😊

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING. You all know the drill.

The remnants of Tropical Depression Edouard are tracking to our southeast. You may have noticed the humidity had increased yesterday, and it will remain nice and miserable today too. No chance for rain here from that mess but we’ll stay in the heat related pattern through at least next week. Just what you wanted to hear.

The fire danger is nixed a little bit due to higher humidity, but foliage is extremely dry and very susceptible to ignition, due to drought conditions, so use extreme caution while using anything related to fire.

Overall, we’ll be ok, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Thursday- Sunny, hot with highs around 102. South winds 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph.

Thursday Night- Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

0330L-WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2026

HOT, once again today and there may be a bit more humidity. The wildland fire risk will remain in the area until we can get some appreciable rainfall, even then, we’ll probably remain through the winter.

The heat will continue for the foreseeable future, and it appears we may not see a break in this for quite some time. We’ll see what happens.

The remnants of Tropical Depression Edouard will most likely track to our east, bringing a low chance for maybe a few showers to SE Oklahoma. We’ll see how that works out.

0225L-TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 1, 2026

HOT, along with the elevated wildfire danger remaining in place due to the ongoing drought. Depending where you live in the county, you could be anywhere under an exceptional drought to moderate drought. Either way, we are very dry and extremely susceptible to wildland fires. Use extreme caution if working with anything related to fire. Call 911 if you make a mistake or see smoke or fire. Also, hydrate properly and pay close attention to how you are feeling out there.

The heat will continue for the foreseeable future, and it appears we may not see a break in this for another week or so. We’ll wait and see how this works out.

ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS BETWEEN 2 AND 7 PM.
Still hot, No rain in sight, Plenty of heat, Lighter winds than yesterday. Continue to use extreme caution while working outdoors and hydrate properly as we’ll continue with the heat issues at least through this week and it appears, next week may be the same.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING ALONG WITH ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS DURING THE SAME TIME FRAME.

It will be hotter than yesterday along with stronger winds and gusts. Use caution while outdoors and call 911 if you see smoke or fire. No rain in sight so far. Hopefully soon.

0300L-SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2026

ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER expected between 1pm until 7pm this evening due to heat and winds. Use extreme caution if using anything related to fire. Controlled burning is NOT advised. ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER conditions are expected all next week.

The heat returns today due to the upper ridge moving back in. We’ll remain in this pattern for the foreseeable future. Heat Advisories may become common once again, per guidance, depending on dewpoint temps and relative humidity. Either way, it’s going to be hot once again, so we’ll roast right into September this year with higher temps.

0300L-FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2026

The last few days we have been in the 90s for high temps. We will enjoy one more day in the mid-90s and then back to the triple digits for the rest of August. September will start off a bit warmer than what is called normal so enjoy outdoor lake and pool activities for a few more weeks and then hopefully Mother nature will calm down and cool off in the latter half of September.

Drought wise, we are oozing into the Exceptional zone, see graphics, with the rest of the county experiencing extreme, severe, & moderate conditions. This, of course, affects the fire danger so use caution if utilizing anything related to fire. Winds will also increase along with temps over the weekend so again, use caution outdoors.

Finally, there is an outside chance we might see a shower this morning from the storms up in Kansas as they move south but I’m not holding my breath quite yet. Any rainfall would only help with humidity. Rain will occur SOMETIME this fall, just not right now.

0325L-THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, 2026

We continue to be in a GENERAL RISK for storms, per the SPC, but the likelihood of any happening is very low for our immediate area. We will enjoy cooler temps again today and that will begin to change starting on Friday when the upper high starts its push to return to the area and we turn up the temps over the weekend and next week. Continue to hydrate properly while working outdoors and check on those pets.

Think fall, winter, & cooler temps so maybe it won’t seem so toasty out there. Just trying to help you all cope with the heat. It will cool down, hopefully, this fall!

We are in a GENERAL THUNDERSTORM RISK area for today. This means a low chance but not out of the question. Storms, IF they were to occur here, would be scattered in our area with wind and hail being the main threats. We are under NW FLOW aloft so our chances for thunderstorms will remain until the upper high moves back in bringing the heat back later this week and weekend. The higher threat for severe weather will be in the southern part of the state.

Wednesday- Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Humid with highs in the lower 90s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

620pm Outlook:

There is a chance we could see some thunderstorm activity later tonight. Timing is questionable for our area.

Right now there are showers moving into northern Grant county moving SE. Nothing severe so far.

If storms do occur, hail and winds would be the main threats.

We'll see what happens.
