MARGINAL RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER LATER TODAY. TIMING: 4PM TO MIDNIGHT. If storms occur, damaging winds and hail will be our main threats. The tornado risk is very low.
HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1PM UNTIL 7PM THIS EVENING. Heat indices could reach 106. Be sure you hydrate properly, water your pets, and pay attention to how you feel if working outdoors.
After all the rain we’ve had and abundant sunshine today, the humidity will be a bit thick so be prepared for the muggy conditions and heat. We will deal with this for several days so prepare accordingly.
As for storms, the main brunt of severe weather should remain mostly in Kansas but with a weak cold front pushing our way along with the diurnal heating here in the area, convection could easily occur, so I’ll keep that eye out and we’ll see where this mess ends up. If storms do, in fact occur, they will weaken as diurnal effects lesson after sundown.
OVERALL, we’ll be ok today, so here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:
Monday- Sunny with highs in the mid-90s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Heat index values up to 106 in the afternoon.
Monday Night- Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then mostly clear after midnight. Humid with lows in the mid-70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph in the evening. Chance of rain 20 percent. Heat index values up to 106 early in the evening.
HAVE A SUPER DAY!
