🇺🇸 City Holiday Closure – Labor Day

All City offices will be closed Monday September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

There will be no trash service on Monday, September 7. If your regular trash pickup falls on Sept. 7, you may place up to three extra bags curbside on your next scheduled collection day.

For water or sewer emergencies, please call 972 -875 -1234 and follow the prompts to reach an operator.

Utility bills may still be paid online at https://xpressbillpay.com/ #/?org=ennis11185, by phone at 833-622-3316 or using the night drop box.

City crews are responding to a water leak near Lumpkin St. and Loma Alta Dr. Residents in the area may experience a temporary water service interruption while repairs are underway.

We’ll provide updates as needed.

Leak has been repaired and water service has been restored to the affected area.

A water leak has been reported in the 2100 block of Yorkstown Dr. The map below shows the area that may be affected.

City crews are on-site and working to minimize outages. Repairs are expected to take approximately 4 - 6 hours.

A large grass fire has burned more than 75 acres near Mach Road and FM 85, close to Alma in Ellis County.

Evacuations have been requested in the area, according to the Watch Duty app, citing radio traffic.

⚠️ If you are in or near the affected area, please follow all instructions from first responders and local officials.

Unless you are providing resources or assisting with the response, PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA to allow emergency crews to work safely and efficiently.

The City of Ennis is assisting Ellis County with evacuations on Hwy 85 southeast of Ennis due to a growing grass fire moving north from FM 1182 east of Alma.

Residents in the affected area are urged to relocate immediately to Alma Cowboy Church (7450 S Interstate 45 Svc Rd, Ennis, TX 75119 (often referenced near Alma/Ennis along I-45)), the designated safe location.

Please follow all instructions from emergency responders at all times. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Blues on Main Road Closures – City of Ennis 🎷🎶

To help make Blues on Main an amazing experience, the following streets and areas will be closed:

• W. Knox St. from N. Sherman St. to N. Dallas St.
• N. McKinney St. from W. Ennis Ave. to W. Baylor St.
• Parking lot at 104 N. McKinney St.

Closures begin: September 5 at 6 a.m.
Reopen: September 6 at 10 p.m.

We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the music, explore downtown, and be part of one of Unity in the Community signature events.

📣The City of Ennis will conduct a test of the Outdoor Warning Sirens today, September 2 at noon.

These tests are scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month at noon. The sirens will remain silent during normal testing times if adverse weather conditions are present.

What are Outdoor Warning Sirens (OWS)? Outdoor Warning Sirens are part of our emergency alert system designed to warn residents about imminent dangers such as severe weather, tornadoes, and other emergencies.

⚠️Stay connected and sign up for emergency notifications from the City of Ennis at www.ennistx.gov/EmergencyNotifications.

You can also prepare for emergencies by checking your home systems, including:
-NOAA weather radios
-Shelter locations
-Disaster supplies

Our crews are currently preparing the area for repairs, and water service will be temporarily turned off to complete the work.
