Troop 89 of Enola

A little late posting this one out here, but we have been so busy having fun this summer that other things got in the way!

In June Troop 89 scouts had an amazing time at Harper's Ferry in WV. We rafted through level 3 rapids, with big rocks and small drops throughout the course. Despite the rain, camping in tents was still fun. The pancakes and bacon on the griddle and walking tacos were the favorite meals of the trip.

Big news for Troop 89!

We’re proud to share that Troop 89 is now a family troop, welcoming both male and female Scouts. We’re also fortunate to already have female leaders in place to support and mentor our new female Scouts as they begin their journey.

While this is a big and exciting change, the strength of our program has not changed. Troop 89 will continue to deliver the same high-quality Scouting experience focused on leadership, outdoor adventure, service, and personal growth. The values and traditions that define our troop remain at the heart of everything we do.

Summer camp this year was at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation. The scouts worked hard and completed 42 merit badges, 5 partial merit badges, and more than 300 individual rank requirements. Many scouts enjoyed swimming in the pool before and after dinner as a free-time activity. Although it was hot, the scouts pushed through and had an awesome time.

So far so good at camp! The scouts are staying busy with boating/paddle boarding, Gaga ball playing, swimming, merit badges, volleyball, shooting and archery! Hoping for lots of shade, cool breezes and water sports for them tomorrow!!

Over Memorial Day weekend, Troop 89 supported Enola American Legion, Post 0751 (717) 732-4987 with their Memorial Day. We were there to support our military members and the sacrifices they've made. The American Legion did a great ceremony and provided a very good lunch. Thanks to Pack 89 of Enola for helping out, too!

Troop 89 went to Muddy Run Campground in Holtwood, PA on May 15-17, to kayak, fish, and camp. One of us caught a fish, most of us kayaked, and all of us had a great time. The weather was great for our trip and being able to camp in tents. What a great adventure!
