Enosburgh Ambulance Service Expands Community Education Through American Heart Association Heartsaver Courses

Enosburgh, Vermont — Enosburgh Ambulance Service is proud to continue its commitment to protecting the community by expanding access to lifesaving education through American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR, AED, and First Aid training.

While our crews are available 24 hours a day to answer emergency calls, we know that in many medical emergencies, the first person to help is often a family member, friend, coworker, or bystander. By equipping members of our community with the skills and confidence to respond before emergency responders arrive, we can improve outcomes and help save lives.

The Heartsaver program is designed for individuals with little or no medical background and teaches participants how to recognize emergencies, perform high-quality CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and provide basic first aid until professional help arrives.

The training is ideal for parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, childcare providers, businesses, community organizations, and anyone who wants to be prepared to help when it matters most. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver certification.

As the primary EMS provider for Enosburgh and the surrounding communities, Enosburgh Ambulance Service responds to more than 1,400 emergency calls each year. In addition to providing advanced life support, the agency remains dedicated to public education and community outreach, ensuring residents have access to the knowledge and skills needed to make a difference before an ambulance arrives.

Congratulations to BVFD Assistant Chief Todd Cosgrove and AEMT Ginger Parent

The members of Enosburgh Ambulance Service would like to congratulate our friends at Bakersfield Volunteer Fire Department on an outstanding showing at the Vermont State Firefighters Convention held in St. Albans.

We are especially proud to recognize Assistant Chief Todd Cosgrove, who was honored as Chief of the Year, and Ginger Parent, who received the Rescue Squad Member of the Year award.

Todd is also a valued EMT with Enosburgh Ambulance Service, and we have the privilege of working closely alongside the members of Bakersfield Fire and First Response on a regular basis. Through countless calls, trainings, and community events, Todd has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and a commitment to serving others. It is a pleasure not only to work with him, but also to learn from the wealth of knowledge and experience he brings to every response.

Congratulations as well to Ginger Parent on this well-deserved recognition. These awards reflect the dedication, professionalism, and selfless service that both Todd and Ginger provide to their communities every day.

Congratulations to both of you on these tremendous accomplishments. We are grateful to call you our partners and friends, and we look forward to continuing to serve our communities together.

Members of BVFD just returned with some hardware from the VT State Firefighters Convention held in St. Albans. We are very proud and honored to announce our two Assist Chiefs Todd Cosgrove received Chief of the Year and Ginger Parent received Rescue Squad Member of the year.

Thank you Montgomery Fire and First Response Fire & First Response for inviting our crews to be part of your parade! It was an honor to participate and spend time with such a welcoming community.

One of the best parts of serving in rural Vermont is the incredible support between neighboring agencies and the close-knit communities we all call home. Events like this remind us how fortunate we are to work alongside dedicated first responders and to serve towns that always make us feel appreciated.

Thank you, Montgomery, for your hospitality, your support, and for making us feel like part of the community. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

The members of Enosburgh Ambulance Service extend our deepest condolences to the Morristown Police Department, the family of Sergeant Ron Audet, and the entire community during this difficult time.

We ask everyone to keep the officers of Morristown PD and Sergeant Audet’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to serve while mourning this tremendous loss.

EMS in a small community is more than a job — it is family.

At Enosburgh Ambulance Service, we are proud to have a family atmosphere where our members support one another through the challenges, sacrifices, and rewarding moments that come with this profession. The long nights, missed holidays, difficult calls, and time away from loved ones are all part of the job, but having a strong team beside you makes all the difference.

We take tremendous pride in the level of care and compassion our crews provide every day. In rural EMS, patients are more than names on a chart — they are our neighbors, friends, coworkers, classmates, and family members. That connection drives us to provide the highest level of emergency medical care possible while treating every patient with dignity, respect, and compassion.

We are also incredibly proud to support our community beyond emergency calls. Whether it is community events, public education, standby coverage, helping neighboring agencies, or simply being there when someone needs us most, serving this area is an honor we never take for granted.

EMS is built on teamwork, and we are thankful for the strong relationships we share with our local EMS partners, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, dispatchers, hospitals, and mutual aid agencies. Working together allows all of us to provide the best care possible to the communities we serve.

Mental Health Awareness Month – May

May is recognized nationally as Mental Health Awareness Month — a time to highlight the importance of mental well-being for all.

Behind every uniform is a human being.

First responders are often called to meet people on their worst days. They are trained to remain calm in chaos, provide care in high-stress situations, and carry the weight of difficult calls long after the scene is cleared. While much of the focus is placed on those we serve, it is equally important to recognize the mental health of those who answer the call.

The challenges of this profession do not always end when the uniform comes off.

At Enosburgh Ambulance Service, we encourage our members — and all first responders — to check in on one another, speak openly about their experiences, and seek support when needed. These actions reflect strength, professionalism, and commitment to long-term well-being.

This message extends to all members of public safety, including EMS, fire, law enforcement, dispatch, and support personnel: your health matters, and you are not alone.
