We’re hiring!

Wallowa Land Trust is looking for a Development Manager to join our team.

Here’s the important part: you don’t need to come to us with a career in nonprofit fundraising.

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, highly organized, curious, strategic, comfortable with people and technology, and able to turn ideas into action. Fundraising experience is certainly welcome—but we’re equally interested in someone with strong transferable skills and the capacity and desire to learn.

And we mean that. Wallowa Land Trust has dedicated significant resources to training, mentorship, and professional development for this position. We are prepared to invest in the right person.

This is a full-time (36 hours/week), permanent position based in our Enterprise office, with a salary of $50,000–$55,000 plus health, dental, vision, retirement, vacation, and other benefits.

EAST MORAINE COMMUNITY FOREST GROWS TO OVER 1,800 ACRES

JOSEPH – The Wallowa Land Trust recently shared an update on the East Moraine Community Forest, which has seen yet more growth in its permanently preserved acreage. The Trust reports that it recently transferred a new 34-acre parcel at the south end of Wallowa Lake into public ownership, bringing the forest’s total size to 1,858 acres of public land. As written by The Trust in the announcement:

“The heavily forested property sits on the forested slopes of the East Moraine and will now be managed alongside the surrounding Community Forest. Managing the landscape as one contiguous forest allows for more coordinated stewardship, including forest thinning and other projects that improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk, and protect wildlife habitat.”

Alongside the new management opportunities, The Trust further reports that the East Moraine Community Forest Conservation Easement was also amended to permanently add the new parcel. These safeguards, which restrict development in the forest, will extend to the newly added acres.

For those unfamiliar, the parcel itself was originally donated to the Wallowa Land Trust by the Wiggins-Graybeal family in 2022, with the hope that it would eventually be integrated into the community forest, which surrounded it on three sides. As further written by The Trust:

“We are deeply grateful to the Wiggins-Graybeal family for their generosity and long-term conservation vision. Their gift will help ensure that this beautiful piece of the East Moraine remains healthy, protected, and open as part of the East Moraine Community Forest for generations to come.”
