Just after 6PM the volunteers of Lincoln were dispatched to a dumpster fire on Stoneycreek Court in Ephrata Township. Upon arrival crews found a dumpster fully involved in fire. The fire was extinguished and crews were made available after they repacked hose.

Today Squrt 16 traveled to Columbia Borough Fire Department Station 80 for their 300th year anniversary parade. Squrt 16 came home winning 2nd place in the Aerial Division. This trophy means alot as this unit has served us well for the past 34 years and with its replacement coming later this summer this probably marked its last Fire Convention as a part of Station 16. Great event and parade!!!

Our condolences to our EMS Partners in town on their loss of Life Member and long time President Les Martzall. Please keep Ephrata Community Ambulance Association and the family of Les in your thoughts and prayers. Its is especially tough with this occurring during EMS Week. Les was also a previous member of Lincoln Fire Co.

The Ephrata Community Ambulance Association announces, with deep sadness, the passing of life member and Emergency Medical Technician, Leslie “Les” Martzall.

Les began his service with Ephrata Ambulance in January 1978 and dedicated decades of his life to the organization and the community. He served as President from 1981 to 1997, again from 2004 to 2012, and most recently from 2018 to 2025. In addition, he held the role of Treasurer from 2002 to 2003 and from 2014 to 2017. At the time of his passing, he continued to serve in the role of President Emeritus. In addition to his service with Ephrata Ambulance, Les also volunteered his time with multiple other fire and EMS agencies throughout the county.

Throughout his years of service, Les made lasting contributions to EMS in Ephrata. He was a certified First Aid and CPR instructor, served on numerous ambulance committees, and played a key role in the purchase and renovation of the former gas station that now serves as the current Ephrata Ambulance station. He was also instrumental in the development and launch of the Ephrata Ambulance paratransit service in 1997.

Les’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to helping others have left an enduring impact on the organization and the community he served so faithfully. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
