Grant County has a full-time litter crew to pick up litter and illegal dumps along Grant County Road right-of-way. In August, the two-person crew picked up litter along 31 road miles and cleaned up 42 illegal dumps. The total amount of debris picked up for the month was 9.79 tons which included 132 tires. If you see an illegal dump or litter along a Grant County roadway, please report it to the County Public Works office at 509-754-6082, option 8 or to [email protected].

Please remember to use a litter bag and to always secure your load.

A recent post on Facebook shared a citizen’s concern regarding extensive litter and illegal dumping at the Phoenix Drive lookout near Moses Lake. Because Grant County is aware of the ongoing problem at this location, the County’s litter crew cleans it up multiple times each year. After seeing the recent post, Grant County Public Works assigned the litter crew to clean up the site this week. A road district employee also assisted by operating a backhoe to load the heavy debris. After two days of hard work, the employees took these pictures. A total of 7,380 pounds (3.69 tons) of garbage was picked up.

The County’s two-person litter crew cleans up litter and illegal dumps along the County road right-of-way. Update: 8/18/2026 6:20am:
Portions of Road 5-NW, Dodson Road, and Adams Road have been chip sealed. Crews are sweeping excess gravel and the speed limit of 35 MPH will remain in place until sweeping is completed.

Update: 8/13/2026 4:03pm:
Dodson Road between Road 4-SW and South Frontage Road has been chip sealed. The speed limit of 35 MPH will remain in place until the road is swept.

Crews will start chip sealing Adams Road from SR 26 to Road 9-SW on August 17, 2026.

Update: 8/13/2026 5:35am:
Crews have moved to Dodson Road and will begin chip sealing between Road 4-SW and South Frontage Road. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 MPH for the duration of the project.

Road 5-NW between SR 281 and Road G.7-NW has been chip sealed. The speed limit of 35 MPH will remain in place until the road is swept.

Adams Road between SR 26 and Road 9-SW is expected to be chip sealed starting Monday, August 17, 2026.

ADVANCE NOTICE OF ROAD WORK-CHIP SEAL OPERATIONS:
The following roads are planned to be chip sealed:
Road 5-NW from SR 281 to Road G.7-NW: August 10-13, 2026

Dodson Road from Road 4-SW to South Frontage Road: August 17-18, 2026

Adams Road from SR 26 to Road 9-SW: August 19-20, 2026

The dates are subject to change.
Expect flagger-controlled traffic with a pilot car.
Speed limits will be reduced within the chip seal area and will be in place for the duration of the project.

Update June 1, 2026 4:42pm: Road 14-NW is now open.

Minor update May 29, 2026 7:02pm: Road 14-NW is still closed but the closure has shrunk and is now between Empire Road and Wenatchee Avenue. Power crews are still on scene. Hopefully power will be restored soon.

Original post: Road 14-NW is closed between Empire Road and Dodson Road due to down trees and power lines. Wenatchee Avenue is accessible via Road 14-NW and Empire Road. Power crews are currently on scene. The roadway will be closed through the weekend and will be assessed on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Additional Information: Power crews are on scene and have cut the trees free from the lines. Hopefully power is restored soon, but the trees blocking the roadway will likely remain until Monday.

This area is near the southern city limits of Ephrata.

UPDATE: Power has been restored at the landfill, and the Visa card reader is back online.

Due to a power outage, the Visa card reader at the landfill is offline until internet service is restored.

Update 7/27/2026: Grant County Public Works partnered with WSDOT geotechnical engineers to assess the slide area. The engineers found multiple large fissures and unstable rock so the road will remain closed.

Vantage Road SW is closed indefinitely to both motorists and pedestrians at Silica Road SW due to a rockslide that occurred on May 15, 2026. Please keep clear of the slide area as the slope is unstable and there is unknown damage to the roadway.

Emergency Road Closure — Vantage Road SW west of Silica Road SW is closed until further notice. This closure is valid until updated.

Update 5/21/2026 2:20pm: Stratford Road is now open to traffic. There is fresh oil and loose gravel on the roadway.

Update 5/18/2026 5:49am: Stratford Road is now closed and will remain closed until Thursday, May 21, 2026 at around 5pm.

Original Post: Stratford Road from Road 20-NE to Road 22.7-NE is planned to be closed May 18, 2026, through May 21, 2026, for County crews to process the road and chip seal it.

This area is south of the unincorporated community of Stratford, WA.

There will be a signed detour in place.
