Fire Weather Warning & Wind advisory in effect for the next couple of days....... be extremely careful & vigilant as any minor spark can cause a fire that will spread like crazy. If you see smoke call it in ASAP. Days like this are no joke between the wind and other elements combined anything started will spread rapidly.

PSA: The old flower shop building on Main Street is the building that caught on fire this morning. We are aware that it is still smoldering and has some active flames off and on (we have received numerous calls about it). We are actively watching it, but at this time, there is nothing to do as there is debris and other materials in it that will have to burn. No matter how much water is put on it, it will flare back up. At this time, our best option is to let it burn and not continuously spray it, but we will keep it controlled when needed. This will probably continue throughout the night and tomorrow.

As many residents have probably seen or heard one of our downtown buildings caught on fire this morning. We were paged out a little after 4 this morning & were on scene til 10am & we are finally leaving the barn after equipment restock & cleanup........ we want to take a min to thank our local Love's Travel Stop for giving us all the drinks we could need (we had every intention of paying but they would not let us), thanks to our sheriff's deputy for launching & utilizing their drone while we were trying to knock down some of the fire to prevent spread before we could have any of our guys get ours out, thanks to our city manager & water dept for making sure the water towers stayed filled up, our police officer & ems for being there in the event they were needed, Main street café for cooking our crazy order of breakfast burritos this morning & throwing in some extras to make sure we were set, & of course the lineman from pso that came to disconnect the sparking power line for us......... but most of all we are extremely grateful the bldg was not currently in operation, that no one was inside, and that we were able to prevent it from spreading more than it did.......... We currently have caution tape up please stay away from the bldg for your own safety, it is private property please be respectful of the owner, as this is alot to take in no one ever expects something like this, stay away from their bldg, again thank you for all of your support & encouragement it does not go unnoticed 🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒
