The residents enjoyed an evening at UPMC Park, cheering on the Erie SeaWolves to a 9-2 win. PCU resident Lana got a hug from Wolfee!!

PSSH and our residents would like to thank the Golf 4 Vets Scramble for their generous donation for the 5th consecutive year! Our residents had a wonderful time riding in the golf carts, watching the tournament, and enjoying a delicious steak dinner. Thank you for your continued support and generosity!

In July, Employees from Southwestern Veterans' Center visited their sister facility in Erie as part of the Mentorship Program. They spent the day at Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home (PSSH) and toured the facility to see the historical sights, spent time on the floor with their counterparts to share knowledge and best practices, and attended a working luncheon with mentors from PSSH to share feedback on their experiences.

The money collected in "Dwight's Pennies" bucket goes to the resident Welfare Fund. That fund is used to sponsor music, bingo and other activities that Dwight always enjoyed! Pastor Ken, as he was known around the PSSH campus, served our veterans well. He conducted the Protestant services where his evangelical ways were felt by everyone in attendance. His one-on-one council with his fellow veterans was of great value. Many of the lives here were touched by his spirit.
We are honored to have his memorials made out to the PA Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Home. All funds donated will go to the resident Welfare Fund. That fund is used to sponsor music, bingo and other activities that our residents enjoy. All of which would please Pastor Ken! Tracy Elementary School students and staff shared seasonal artwork that our personal care residents enjoy. The pieces currently hang in our personal care dining room. Regardless of the weather outside, it keeps us in a summer kind of mindset!

One of our Activities staff members gave special support to a home resident with her outside window bird feeder. Having the opportunity to see the birds from inside her room is exciting when it happens!

After donating some plants to our resident raised gardens, they passed inspection by Randall Johnson who gifted them! Thanks to our resident with the "green thumb" who takes such great care of them. You know who you are! Looking forward to the harvest time.
