The boys and girls golf meets for today have been canceled.
There will be no practice for either team.

Due to the heat, the MS Cross Country Invite in Geneseo tomorrow has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 3rd. There will be no MS cross country practice tomorrow.

Erie CUSD #1 would like to remind families of our procedures regarding students riding District transportation to a location other than their primary residence.

In accordance with Board Policy 4:110, transportation to an alternate location is permitted for child care purposes only, provided the location is within the District and along an established District bus route.

Additionally, our Transportation Department permits students to ride a bus other than their regularly assigned bus only when there is a child care need and space is available.

Please remember that social activities, including going to a friend's house or spending the night with another student, are not considered child care needs. Therefore, students may not ride home with another student for these purposes, even if both students would be riding the same bus.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work to provide safe, consistent, and efficient transportation for our students. Thank you!

Erie Middle School Facilities Update!

Erie CUSD #1 is excited to share the continued development of the Erie Middle School Facilities Plan. Below is a brief timeline of the work that has taken place and what comes next!

2024-2025 School Year

In May 2025, the Board of Education held a facilities retreat and identified the Middle School as the District's next facilities priority.

2025-2026 School Year

In September 2025, the Board toured the Middle School facilities and discussed areas of need.
Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, the District held numerous pre-construction meetings while the Board Facilities Committee continued working through project needs, potential solutions, timelines, and budget considerations. The project was also discussed during public Board meetings throughout the year.
In April 2026, the Board voted to move forward with the Middle School Facilities Plan.
2026-2027 School Year

In August 2026, Mr. Milem provided the attached presentation outlining the proposed project and providing an overview of the improvements being considered.
The bidding process could begin as early as September, with the Board potentially considering bids at its October 2026 meeting.
The project is planned to be fully funded through District reserves and existing revenue sources. The plan does not require the issuance of bonds or new debt and will not result in an increase to the tax rate for the project.
We are excited about the progress and look forward to continuing to share updates with our community as the Erie Middle School Facilities Plan moves forward!
