Mostly near to slightly above average temperatures are expected through Friday, with a warm up this weekend. There are a few chances for thunderstorms, greatest Tuesday evening and night generally northwest of the Kansas Turnpike.

A few lingering showers and weak storms will dot south-central and southeast Kansas through the morning hours today as a front moves south. Mild weather behind the front will give way to a gradual warm-up through the weekend.

Hot temperatures will continue for today and Tuesday. Increasing rain and thunderstorm chances are expected for Wednesday into Thursday night.

Despite a few showers and storms this morning, afternoon temperatures are still forecast to rise in the 90s across much of the area. Some locations across south-central Kansas could see heat indices above 105 this afternoon and early evening.

The heat continues across southern and southeast Kansas today with highs in the upper 90s to low 100s and heat indices above 105. Meanwhile, isolated storms are possible throughout the day area-wide. While most will stay dry, those who do see a storm could see brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
