Happy Labor Day!

Today, we're taking a moment to recognize the many people whose hard work helps keep our communities moving — including our staff, volunteers, food pantry partners, donors, farmers and community supporters.

A reminder that Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is closed today, Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen Tuesday, September 8, during normal business hours.

Thank you for all that you do throughout the year to support our neighbors across northwest Pennsylvania.

⚾🥫 The Erie SeaWolves joined us in the warehouse!

Earlier this week, some of our friends from the Erie SeaWolves spent time volunteering at Second Harvest, helping out in the warehouse and keeping food moving to our community partners.

We’re grateful for the SeaWolves’ continued partnership — both on the field and in the community!

And if you’re heading to the ballpark today, bring along 4–5 non-perishable food items to donate at the game and receive a ticket to the upper level! ⚾🥫

⚾ TODAY'S THE DAY!

We're heading to the ballpark for the Erie SeaWolves game!

Bring 4–5 nonperishable food items to the UPMC Pak Box Office and receive one upper-level box seat ticket while supplies last.

It's an easy way to enjoy a Sunday at the ballpark while helping stock the shelves of local food pantries.

We had a great start to Hunger Action Month! 🧡

Earlier this week, we welcomed our friend Lauren Duff, Chief Public Affairs Officer at Feeding Pennsylvania, to Second Harvest.

Lauren got a look at how we’re connecting our neighbors with nutritious food and resources, including tours of the Second Harvest Marketplace at the UPMC Health Plan Neighborhood Center and the future Marketplace coming to the St. Paul’s Neighborhood Center.

She also joined us Wednesday as we kicked off Hunger Action Month alongside Erie County, Pennsylvania and the City of Erie Government — bringing community partners together to highlight the importance of making sure our neighbors have access to the food they need.

We’re grateful to have Feeding Pennsylvania alongside us as we Play Your Part this Hunger Action Month! 🧡🥫🍎

📢 Reminder: Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

🧡 On National Food Bank Day, our CEO Greg Hall stopped by to visit our friends at the MACC Food Pantry and Mercy Center for Women Executive Director Jennie Hagerty!

The MACC Food Pantry and Second Harvest have been partners in making nutritious food more accessible to neighbors in the Erie community. Together, we’ve seen what’s possible when community organizations work together to connect people with food and other resources.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue building on that partnership and supporting our neighbors.

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together and committed to continuing this work. 🧡
