Thank you Mercyhurst University - your support means everything to us and the students and families at Edison Elementary School

Huge thank you to the Mercyhurst University students who donated their used clothing to Edison's Community Closet, which will keep us stocked for weeks! Community Engagement at Mercyhurst University helped coordinate student donations from their Trash to Treasure collections and we couldn't be more grateful!

A big thank you to MacDonald Illig Jones & Britton LLP for donating books to Jefferson Elementary, A Community School πŸ“š

There’s no better way to kick off summer than with a new book in hand. Thanks to community partners like MacDonald, Illig, students will have even more opportunities to explore, imagine, and continue learning all summer long.

Thank you for investing in our students and helping foster a love of reading!

Another year, another carnival. 🎑 But this isn't just any carnival.

At Edison Elementary School, a United Way Community School, families came together to celebrate the end of the school year, connect with community resources, and simply enjoy time together.

Events like this remind us that community matters. And that's what Community Schools are all about.

Thank you to all of the community partners who spent the afternoon with Edison families.

A special thank you to Wabtec Corporation, Edison Elementary's Corporate Partner, for volunteering and engaging with students throughout the event.

And thank you to the school staff and United Way Community School Director, Tami, for creating another successful event that brought the community together. β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’›

What happens when students are given the chance to create, problem solve, and believe in their ideas? You get a room full of young innovators proudly presenting apps they built themselves. πŸš€πŸ“±

Over the last 12 weeks, students at JoAnna Connell - A Community School used the goIT STEM program to turn real-life problems into creative app ideas. Some focused on breaking language barriers, others created apps to help friends connect, and every project reflected hard work, persistence, and creativity.

But the most powerful part was students learning they could push through challenges they never thought they could overcome.

Thank you to Tata Consultancy Services - North America and Erie Insurance for helping bring opportunities like this to students, and the future of STEM education in United Way Community Schools.

And a special shoutout to STEM teacher Lindsey Millet for guiding students through every challenge, idea, and breakthrough along the way.
