Make an impact in your community by helping uphold fairness, equity, and justice in Erie County.

The Erie County Human Relations Bureau is seeking a detail-oriented and objective professional to serve as a Civil Rights Investigator. In this role, you’ll conduct impartial investigations into discrimination complaints in housing, employment, and public accommodations.

💼 Position: Civil Rights Investigator
📍 Location: Erie County HRC Office
⏰ Hours: 37.5/week (Full-Time)
💲 Pay: $30.36/hour

🔍 What you’ll do:
• Investigate discrimination complaints through interviews, evidence collection, and analysis
• Prepare detailed reports, findings, and legal documentation
• Interpret and apply civil rights laws
• Maintain accurate, confidential case files
• Support case resolution, mediation, and legal preparation
• Engage in community outreach and education efforts

✔️ Ideal candidates will have:
• Strong investigative and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
• Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
• Experience in investigations, legal support, human services, or related fields

📌 Minimum: High school diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience
🎓 Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or related field

The Erie County Human Relations Bureau is looking for a detail-oriented, organized professional to join our team!

📍 Location: Erie County HRC Office
💼 Position: Administrative & Intake Specialist
⏰ Hours: 20 hours/week (Per Diem)
💲 Pay: $16.47/hour
📅 Apply by: April 14, 2026

This role is essential to keeping our office running smoothly and supporting the important work of the Human Relations Commission. You’ll manage daily office operations, coordinate communications, assist with intake of discrimination complaints, maintain confidential records, and support meetings and administrative functions.

✔️ Ideal candidates will have:
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Experience with administrative and clerical work
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

📌 Minimum requirement: High school diploma (or equivalent) + 5 years of administrative experience
🎓 Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field

To our panelists, thank you for sharing your expertise, lived experiences, and insight to help move this important conversation forward.
