The last week members of the department attended vehicle extrication with the Kansas State Firefighters Association. A couple members attained their certification in extrication and another member attended for additional training. Thank you to KSFFA for having us as well as the Caney fire department for hosting the training.

Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads.

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who lead with strength, serve with integrity, and support their families through every challenge and milestone.

Thank you for the lessons you teach, the sacrifices you make, and the example you set each day. Your guidance helps build stronger families, safer communities, and a brighter future for the next generation.

From all of us at the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office, we wish you a Happy Father’s Day filled with appreciation, pride, and time spent with those you love.

Thank you to all the firefighters who put your life on the line for your community.

A Huge THANK YOU to Frontier Farm Credit!!! We have been awarded a $5000 Grant to assist us in purchasing Portable Radios for ALL the Rural Fire Departments in Neosho County:
Saint Paul Mission Township Fire Department
Erie Fire Department
Thayer Fire Department
Stark Fire Department
Galesburg Volunteer Fire Department

These Radios will be compatible with the State 800mhz system and allow us to communicate with neighboring agencies that are on the State system. These radios will also be vital in the event we have a large-scale incident or Mass Casualty Incident. We also have future plans of having a backup form of communication with our dispatch center. Communication is vital to our mission during all emergent and non-emergent calls we are assigned to. The Saint Paul Mission Township Fire Department & Saint Paul Mission Township Fire Department Auxiliary is very proud to be able to help our agencies throughout Neosho County with this Grant opportunity. Again, THANK YOU for making this a possibility!

We will keep you posted throughout the process.

Be weather aware tonight with the incoming storms. Here is a list of shelters in Neosho county.

FYI: The Storm Prediction Center has updated the probability for severe weather in our area. The primary threats are strong winds and hail. Winds could gust between 70–85 mph. While the tornado threat is lower, it is not zero.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Remember, storm sirens are designed to warn people outdoors only—do not rely on them if you are inside.

Have a plan in place and know where your local storm shelters are located. Please note: The Memorial Building/Fire Station is NOT a designated storm shelter, as it may not be staffed if crews are responding to calls.

Stay weather aware and be prepared.
