I was very honored today by Mary Kay Brown to be presented a beautiful sample of her talent. She painted a picture of two ladies who depicted the women of the early female workforce of America. The ladies worked in a flag factory probably in the early forties. The painting will proudly be displayed in the Register's office for all to enjoy. I so appreciate Mary Kay's thoughtfulness.

The Register's office joins with others in offering condolences for the family and friends of former Assessor of Property Patsy Bennett. Patsy was as a the bible describes, a virtuous woman. Her life reflected a light of love and was exemplary of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with whom she resides today. She served both our County and her Lord with a kind and humble spirit. Our prayers will be with her husband Ronnie and other family members. “And of some have compassion, making a difference.” Jude 1:22

Patsy Sue Tipton Bennett, age 72, 1375 Martins Creek Road, Erwin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 26, 2018. She passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her devoted and loving family. Patsy was a lifelong resident of Erwin and the only daughter of the late Herman and Belle Phillips Tipton.

She retired from her position as Assessor of Property after twenty-eight years of dedicated service to the citizens of Unicoi County. Patsy was an active, devoted and loving member of Faith Baptist Church for forty years. She taught the 5 to 8 year old Sunday School Class for thirty years. Patsy was a virtuous woman who loved the Lord with all her heart. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30

She was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and always enjoyed volunteering her time with various organizations. Patsy loved people and she never met a stranger! She loved flowers, growing flowers and making a dying plant come to life again......she was a natural green thumb. Patsy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice staff for all the professional and loving care they gave to Patsy and her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Ann Bennett on February 24, 2006.

She leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her loving and dedicated husband of fifty-seven years, Ronnie Bennett; one son, John Bennett (Monica), Knoxville; four daughters: Ronda Williams (David), Regina Tipton (John), Becky Edwards (Travis) and Phyllis Harris (Sam), all of Erwin; five brothers: Wayne Tipton, Erwin, Franklin Tipton (Jeanette), Erwin, Ronnie Tipton (Lois), Johnson City, Leon Tipton (Joan) and Kyle Tipton (Josie), all of Erwin; fifteen grandchildren: Deanna Hardin (Michael), Joshua Williams, Philip Tipton (Brittney), Nathanael Tipton, Joseph Tittle (Rosie), Daniel Edwards, Kendra Miller (Christian), Hannah Harris, Isaac Harris, Terry Franklin, Jessica Lane, Jeremy Lane, Rachel Morrison (Jackie), Hunter and Peyton Bennett; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
