Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Regional Commission

Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Regional Commission CUPPAD was created by state legislation in 1968 as one of fourteen state-designated planning and development regions.

The main goal of the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development (CUPPAD) Regional Commission is to foster cooperative analysis, planning and action for economic, social and physical development and conservation within the central Upper Peninsula. Located in Escanaba, MI, CUPPAD serves the central six counties of the Upper Peninsula (Alger, Delta, Dickinson, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcr

aft) and is governed by a 37-member commission with an 8-member Executive Committee. The US Secretary of Commerce designated CUPPAD as a Economic Development District in May 1970.https://cuppad.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/CUPPAD-Social-Media-Policy-1.pdf

Join us May 28–29, 2026 at Northern Michigan University’s Jacobetti Complex for the MADE U.P. Outdoor Summit. This event is all about celebrating what makes the Upper Peninsula so special, our outdoor spaces, recreation, and the reasons we choose to live here.

We’ve brought together a great group of local voices, organizations, and speakers to lead conversations on topics that impact our region. The summit is an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and take action at a critical moment.
