Reliable transportation is one of the biggest barriers to employment in Delta County — and for many people, it’s the difference between being able to work or not. Expanding DATA’s countywide transit service would be a game changer for employers like Lakestate Industries and for the individuals we support every day.
Right now, thousands of residents in seven townships have no access to public transit. This proposal would expand service countywide, add early morning, evening, and weekend hours, and help connect people to jobs, medical care, education, and everyday life. More than half of DATA riders are working-age adults, and expanded transportation means more people can reliably get to work and stay employed.
For a home with a taxable value of $100,000, the estimated cost is about $5.75 per month — a small investment that could generate over $1.1 million locally while also unlocking additional state and federal funding.
Transportation is not just about getting from one place to another. It creates opportunity, independence, and access. Supporting expanded DATA service means supporting our workforce, our seniors, our veterans, people with disabilities, and the future of Delta County.
