State Senate Candidate Secures Local Democrats’ Endorsement
by Ellen Grinde
MANISTIQUE — The Schoolcraft County Democratic Party endorsed Kelli van Ginhoven for Michigan Senate District 38 at its regular meeting on June 9 in Manistique. She is currently a Delta County Commissioner and will be representing the U.P. This was her second visit to the local Democratic Party meetings and she was enthusiastically received by the membership when she asked for their endorsement.
Her issues, which align with U.P. priorities, include creating jobs to keep our talented students local, advocating for unions and the middle class, tackling housing costs, protecting our forests, managing the state mental health care crisis and supporting our rural hospitals.
Dixie Anderson, Chair of the Schoolcraft County Democratic Party, said, “We believe that Kelli van Ginhoven is the right person to represent our region. She is a dynamic leader who knows our issues and will get things done. We’re proud to endorse her for the State Senate.”
