MVD launches new appointment system, expands in-person operations

The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division is expanding its in-person operations as COVID-19 case counts are improving statewide. MVD is also launching a new appointment scheduling system on Monday that will increase the number and type of appointments that can be made online at MVDonline.com.

The scheduling system will not be available this weekend so that existing appointments can be transferred to the new system, called MVD Direct. There is no need for customers who have already scheduled appointments to rebook them.

The new MVD Direct scheduler will allow customers to check in to their appointments via text message from their cars and then receive a text notification when their number is called.

Customers will be able to access the new scheduling system using a link on the home page of mvdonline.com.

To comply with public health restrictions and help limit the spread of COVID-19,
appointments at larger offices, such as those in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Las Cruces, have been limited to first-time New Mexico licenses, first-time RealID licenses and for dropping off in-state vehicle title transfer and registration paperwork. However, MVD is expanding appointment capacity and the transaction types offered thanks to improving conditions.

Transactions will continue to be conducted by appointment only, and the number of people allowed in MVD lobbies will continue to be limited in compliance with the state public health order. With the exception of counties designated as ‘red’, customers will no longer be screened at the entrances, but they will be asked to check a box when making their appointments agreeing not to show up for appointments if they are exhibiting any symptoms related to COVID-19.

Throughout the pandemic, MVD has worked to move more of its services online to meet customer demand while ensuring COVID-safety. About 3,200 transactions per month are currently being completed outside of MVD offices due to innovations made by MVD throughout the pandemic.

New Mexico issues vaccine distribution plan
State moves into Phase 1B, provides details about Phases 1B, 1C, and 2

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health today released its distribution plan for Phases 1B, 1C, and 2 for the COVID-19 vaccine. That plan is available here: https://cv.nmhealth.org/covid-vaccine/

The Department also announced that New Mexico has officially moved into Phase 1B of the vaccination effort. This means that vaccine will be available to New Mexicans in the following sequence:

• Individuals 75 years of age and older
• Individuals 16 or older with underlying medical conditions that place them at greater risk from COVID-19
• Frontline essential workers who cannot work remotely
• Vulnerable populations (residents of congregate care settings)

Individuals in Phase 1A can continue to schedule vaccinations as well.

“DOH is pleased to release New Mexico’s vaccination plan - and to provide the clarity that New Mexicans seek about this critical effort,” said Dr. Tracie Collins, Secretary-Designate of the New Mexico Department of Health.

Dr. Collins will also host a remote news conference at 3pm on Monday, January 11 to provide an update on the state’s vaccination distribution effort.

The news conference will be streamed live on the NMDOH page.

Members of the media will be able to participate remotely. If you would like the opportunity to ask questions, please RSVP to [email protected] with your name and media affiliation and “RSVP” in the subject or body of the email. After your RSVP is received, you will receive more information about how to participate.

New Mexicans are encouraged to register for vaccination at https://cvvaccine.nmhealth.org. NMDOH will notify registrants when vaccine is available.

Users who have questions or would like support with the registration process - including New Mexicans who do not have internet access - can dial 1-855-600-3453, press option 0 for vaccine questions, and then option 4 for tech support.

Sheriff James Lujan your 100% right ,why would anybody with all there senses wanna hire a guy for chief who has to travel 200 miles round trip ( I measured it ) who claims to have been in law enforcement with 15 years under his belt and a instuctor at the law enforcement academy, with all his experience , yet his officers are never around ,and when you do see them , they are either at walmart or lowes parked, all four or six cars . while the rest of our town goes unprotected ,yup Mr. Lujan ,mr. jimenez is not experienced for the job,hes just a big ole cry baby, who does not know how to run a department, his officers don't even know how to write a report, we need someone who is from here and knows the people, not someone who uses us as a stepping stone for his resume
