Governor Mikie Sherrill today signed Executive Order No. 21, ordering U.S. and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on Friday, July 17, 2026, in recognition and in mourning of Firefighter Robert W. A volunteer firefighter with the Malaga Fire Company, Firefighter Reider joined the department as a junior firefighter at just 16 years old and served his community with professionalism and bravery.

“Robert Reider answered the call to serve his community from a young age, demonstrating remarkable courage, selflessness, and dedication as a volunteer firefighter,” said Governor Sherrill. “His sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks our first responders take every day to keep New Jerseyans safe. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fellow members of the Malaga Fire Company.”

PSE&G Continues Final Phase of Major Storm Restoration Effort, Restoring Power to More Than 380,000 Customers, Working Around-the-Clock in Hard-Hit Areas

(NEWARK, N.J. – July 7, 2026) – Working around-the-clock, PSE&G is nearing completion of one of the largest storm restoration efforts in its history. A multiday heatwave was followed by three consecutive days of high winds and severely damaging storms that hit nearly every part of New Jersey over the July 4th holiday weekend. Crews continue working around the clock to safely complete repairs in the remaining hard-hit locations, where widespread damage has required extensive restoration of the electric system. We are doing this as quickly and safely as conditions allow.
