The Essex Town Democratic Committee will meet on Monday July 13th at 6:00 PM at Memorial Hall (5 Towers Road) to elect up to 15 people to run as Democrats for the position of Justice of the Peace in the November general election. Please come join us! You must be a voting resident of the Town of Essex + a Democrat to be considered.

One again Governor Scott ignored the committee (tasked by state law to make) recommended candidates to fulfill an appointment. This may seem small but it’s part of a bigger pattern of ignoring the will of his constituents and fellow legislatures in a way that is heavily biased towards Republicans.

We know many Democratic voters view Scott as a “good Republican” - it’s time to reconsider that view.

We hope Democratic voters will look to the enthusiastic Gubernatorial candidates in the Democratic primary to bring fresh proposals and a commitment to a fair democracy to Vermont.

We fully agree with our neighbors, the Essex Junction Democrats We call on Governor Scott to take a stand keeping all Vermonters safe from unreasonable search and seizure, racial profiling, and endangering our communities. The legislature must pass legislation to reduce the harms of ICE in our communities. And we as a people must stand against the excesses of ICE and protect our neighbors ❤️
