Estes Valley Fire Protection District

Estes Valley Fire Protection District The Estes Valley Fire Protection District continues the tradition of superior fire and safety services established more than a century ago in Estes Park.

The Estes Park Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1907. It remained an all-volunteer organization until 2010, when the first paid fire chief was hired. The establishment of a fire district gained voter approval in 2009 and the Estes Valley Fire Protection District (EVFPD) became the governing body for fire and rescue services on January 1, 2010. Volunteer firefighters and paid district s

taff proudly continue the tradition of providing superior fire and safety services that was established more than a century ago. The district encompasses 66 square miles including the town of Estes Park, CO. Although Rocky Mountain National Park is outside the district's boundaries, an agreement is in place for EVFPD to provide fire suppression services for structural fires and motor vehicle accident assistance in the park on the east side of the continental divide.

When a wildfire is approaching, every second counts to quickly evacuate you and your family (including our furry friends). True wildfire readiness means having a plan for our pets, including a pet "go-bag" with food, meds, and leashes. For our last wildfire awareness item this month, make pets a part of your evacuation plan today!

As continues, we want to remind folks of the importance of moving firewood away from the home.

During a wildfire, wind-blown embers can fly miles ahead of the actual flames. If they land in your woodpile, they can easily ignite and trap heat right against your walls. Take some time this week to move firewood piles at least 30ft away from your home, or consider a non-combustible containment box to store wood in if 30ft out is not an option.

❄️🔥 WINTER SAFETY REMINDER 🔥❄️

Heavy snow can block your furnace vents — and that’s a serious fire hazard.

✅ Check vents regularly
✅ Clear away snow and ice
✅ Keep at least 1–2 feet of space around exhaust outlets

Blocked vents can cause dangerous heat buildup and even carbon monoxide risks. A quick check can help protect your home and your family.
