The final award recipient was Lynn Young, who was recognized her for 41 years of involvement with the League of Women Voters. Warner said Young started the Women’s Equality Day event in 2013 to recognize women’s efforts in democracy, and has continued since.

“I worked with her in some of those earlier events, and then Lynn sort of backed off and a few of us got moved in,” Warner said as the audience laughed.

Warner said Young was instrumental in the League of Women Voters movement in Estes Park that stopped helicopter tours over Rocky Mountain National Park in 1954 and the subsequent federal ban on all air tour flights over the park.

“We were very very concerned about the silence over the park. How that would affect the wildlife and how that would affect the visitors,” Young said in her speech. “We bound together … (Now we’re the only park) in the country with this type of a ban. I think that is a beautiful thing.”

Young ended the night by saying she was proud to be a part of the organization for 41 years, and left the audience with a reminder.

The Larimer County League of Women Voters held its annual Women’s Equality Day event celebrating the 19th Amendment that granted women the right to vote in 1920, and the league’s 75th anniversary.

Got broken stuff? Boulder U Fix It Clinic has a fix! Sign up today for a FREE repair event on August 30, 2026, at the Boulder Public Library BLDG61 Makerspace located 1056 Boulder Canyon parking lot, from 1–4 pm.

At Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic events, people bring all sorts of broken appliances, toys, electronics, clothing, and work with volunteer coaches to learn hands-on repair skills. (Note: No jewelry repair will be available at this event.) A set of tools is available for each participant to use. Fixing your stuff keeps things out of the landfill and prevents new materials from being produced. Good for your pocketbook and good for the earth. Not to mention, you’ll probably leave knowing a little bit more about how to fix your own things so you can be more independent next time.
