The Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce is a Non-profit that works and strives towards making the City of Estherville IA and it's surrounding areas a better place to live, work, raise a family and enjoy life! Session 2 of Lead the Ville happened this week! September’s session focused on Emmet County Outdoors and gave participants the opportunity to learn more about the organizations working to protect, maintain and enhance our area’s outdoor spaces.

We met with the Estherville Garden Club, Estherville Parks and Recreation Department, Emmet County Water Trails, Friends of Fort Defiance and Emmet County Conservation. We also took a break from the heat at The Sweet Stop, where we enjoyed a tour and a delicious treat!

What a great summer with this team!

Kali Thiel and Sophie Behrens joined the Chamber as interns this summer, and both were fantastic additions to our office.

This was Sophie’s second summer with us, and we were so grateful to have her back! Sophie wrapped up her internship in July to begin an exciting opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings, while Kali finished her time with us this week and is heading back to Iowa State University. Luckily, we’ll get to welcome Kali back for Fright Hike this fall!

Throughout the summer, Kali and Sophie brought creativity, energy and plenty of fun to the Chamber. They also worked hard to create social media content that you’ll continue to see over the next couple months!

We’re sad to see them go, but we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next. Please join us in thanking Kali and Sophie for a wonderful summer and wishing them both the very best in their future endeavors!

My name is Chelsea Harris and I am originally from Muscatine, Iowa. I'm a proud 2025 Iowa State graduate who joined the Estherville Veterinary Clinic in July 2025. Providing compassionate care to my animal patients and supporting their families is what I enjoy most about veterinary medicine. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Roxanne, hiking, staying active at the gym, and trying new hobbies. I'm excited to continue learning, growing, and making a positive impact on the lives of the pets and people I serve.

My name is Yas Mata, and I am a Mortgage Loan Originator and Personal Banker at Northwest Bank. I have worked for Northwest Bank for the past 10 years, helping individuals and families achieve their financial and homeownership goals. I am married with 2 kids, my husband’s name is Joaquin Mata, our children’s names are Jasmine, who is 22 years old, and Joaquin Jr., who is 20 years old. I have lived in the area for approximately 13 years. I originally moved from Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Wallingford, Iowa, and about a year ago I made Estherville my home. Living and working in this community has allowed me to build meaningful relationships and gain a deeper appreciation for the people and businesses that make our area special.
