It is very important to get the correct information regarding this project to the public. It has been a struggle as so many spread incorrect details. This is unfortunate. What is worse is when trusted sources also have incorrect details. This not only confuses people, but also upsets them. With such an important issue, everyone needs to be able to have the facts and stay positive so our town can achieve the goal of building a new outdoor pool.
With that being said, here are some corrections to current news that has been posted.
It was falsely reported that our city administrator said the new pool would be paid for by raising water and sewer rates. This is NOT true. What she did say is that eventually water and sewer rates may rise due to repairs and renovations needed at the wastewater plant. This has absolutely nothing to do with the pool project.
There are also details circulating about a lazy river. The design approved by the Parks and Rec Board does NOT contain a lazy river. In order to provide ammenities to suit various needs, a lazy river was found to be either too expensive or came at a cost of eliminating other designs such as the diving board and deep water swimming.
There are many other details that have been shared as this project has progressed that are simply false. It is our hope the community comes together so more memories can be made at an outdoor pool. Please pass this along to your friends so we can get accurate information out there. If you have questions, by all means, contact the appropriate parties and do not rely on gossip.
