COMMUNITY UPDATE: TEMPORARY STATION RELOCATION

Due to ongoing maintenance work at our Shaler station, Shaler Hampton EMS must temporarily vacate the station beginning this morning, August 12, through approximately 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, August 13.

During this time, our Shaler crews and ambulances will operate from Fugh Hall in Etna. This location was selected because it keeps us well positioned to respond promptly to all areas normally served from the Shaler station.

There will be no change in service.

As always, if you need an ambulance, CALL 911. Allegheny County 911’s trained professionals will assist you and always know the location and availability of our ambulances.

We wanted to keep everyone informed in case you notice no ambulances at our Shaler station—or several ambulances parked at Fugh Hall in Etna.

This will NOT affect operations from our Hampton station at all.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area today, Tuesday, July 21, from 1:00 PM until 11:00 PM.Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move through in waves between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM, bringing threats of heavy downpours, damaging winds, and hail. Because of our local terrain, rapid runoff can cause sudden flooding near Pine Creek and West Little Pine Creek.

The Etna Police Department is advising all residents to prepare for potentially severe weather moving into our area this afternoon and evening.

While there are currently no active warnings or watches for Etna Borough, the National Weather Service has placed Allegheny County under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms.

Morning (8 AM - 12 PM): Mostly cloudy and calm.

Midday (12 PM - 2 PM): Scattered light rain and initial showers develop.
