What an awesome program that Sheriff Guy presented! It was an Active Shooter Response Class. He gave us so much information just in case any of us was in such a situation. We want to thank him so much for spending his time with us.

Everyone is welcome to come to the center Thursday May 28th to take part in Sheriff Joe Guys’ Active Shooter Program. This is a fun, interactive program that will help us be prepared if we are ever in such a situation. Everyone needs to be prepared. The program will begin at 9:30. After Sheriff Guy’s program, we will enjoy a wonderful lunch compliments of Starr Regional.

Our calendar for May is full of exciting activities, all free! Friday we are welcoming the Polk County High School Band for a concert. On the 21st, Athens Public works will be telling us all about recycling that will help with our new recycling program. Sheriff Joe Guy will present a safety program on the 28th. Our Memorial Day BBQ will be on the 29th and on the 22nd, we will be celebrating National Salad Day with a trip to the Gondolier to enjoy their salad bar and pizza lunch. Free to members. Call the senior center for more information.

We have one more ticket to the Red, White, and Blue Tour at the Gem Theater to give away tomorrow! Be sure to be at the center to have a chance to win. Value of the ticket is $68.50.

You can still come and join us for volleyball. As you can see, we have a”ball” playing.
Next game Monday April 27 at 11:30. We will soon be challenging other senior centers.
