The City Commission voiced approval Monday night of city staff’s work to find new sources of revenue, cut costs and allow a property tax rate decrease in next year’s budget. Find story link in comments since Facebook is being terrible about posting the link.

From the Lawrence Journal World today, speaking of the upcoming property tax conversation about everything from Libraries, School Districts, and Cities, to the County:

"But if you had to pick just one type of government that was the worst at holding the line, you could argue that it is the cities. Of the four cities in Douglas County, three of the four are proposing to raise their property tax rates. Eudora is the exception. It is proposing to keep its tax rate steady from a year ago."

Glad to be a part of that lonely group.

Property taxes are still too high, that's why we're working on new ways and new ideas to bring them down. Be part of the conversation - attend a City Commission meeting, the 2nd and 4th Mondays at City Hall, 7:00 p.m.

Congratulations to the City of Eudora for winning $1,199,000 in ANOTHER grant from the State of Kansas!

This grant will specifically go towards improving the Wakarusa Boat Ramp area, improving parking, lighting, and connecting to sidewalks on the South side (downtown side) of the railroad tracks. Connectivity and walkable spaces are important to this community, and I'm incredibly proud of the City teams that keep working to bring State and Federal money back home.

This furthers the City's efforts to bring outside money into improving and restoring beautiful Downtown Eudora! Along with the over $1,000,000 worth of improvements just getting started on Pilla Park, the Northern entrance into town is getting ready for a lot of excitement.

Accessible entrances are something most people rarely take notice of, but when you need it, you need it. I am extremely grateful to our Eudora KS Parks and Recreation Department for their efforts in increasing accessibility at the entrances to the Eudora Community Center!

Thank you to the Senior Foundation of Eudora and other community members for your suggestions and your perseverance. Getting these automatic entrances for ALL members of our Eudora community is long overdue! They look and work fantastic!
