What an honor to receive the 2026 Alabama Water Watch Educator Award, along with Kimber Fant of Eufaula City Schools! Collaborating with Kimber and her students for water testing is a highlight of my 4-H work. And RiverKids kayking would not happen without Kimber and her husband Michael who serve as 4-H Volunteers. Thank you, Kimber, for teaching stewardship of our beautiful Lake Eufaula!

Due to feedback from farmers, buyers, and community partners, we have rescheduled our Farmers-to-Buyers Mixer to allow more producers and businesses the opportunity to participate after the busy summer growing season.

📅 August 19, 2026📍 National Peanut Festival Volunteer Building📌 Dothan, AL

This event brings together local farmers, restaurants, retailers, schools, and other food buyers to build relationships, create new market opportunities, and strengthen our local food system.

✅ Meet local producers and buyers
✅ Learn from experienced farmers and purchasers during our discussion panel
✅ Network with potential business partners
✅ Enjoy local hors d'oeuvres from Southrngritskitchen

Producer tables are available, and buyers are encouraged to attend and make valuable local connections.

The Barbour County - Alabama Extension Office is happy to have Taylor Washington, a 2025 Eufaula High School graduate and current Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College student, intern with us this summer. Taylor has helped with Barbour County-Alabama 4-H regional chick 🐥chain pick up in Troy, phones 📞, putting together chair 🪑carts and other tasks. We are looking forward to a great summer!😎🐄

🚜County director, Mitzi Clayton, attended the Alabama Association of County Agricultural Agents and Specialists Annual Conference in Mobile this past week along with other Extension professionals from southeast Alabama.
🦪She toured the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Alabama Aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, and learned all things 🦪 oysters at the Auburn University Shellfish Lab.
🚜Ronnie Davis of Wiregrass RC&D was recognized as being this year’s distinguished Friend of Extension. Ronnie and his staff are truly our friends!
