Hello Cal Young Families,

Save the Date for next Wednesday, March 11th! We would like to invite all of our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and families to the 8th Grade Students vs Staff Volleyball game happening in the CY Gym on Wednesday of next week, March 11th, at 6pm. Please see the attached flier with more information, as well as ways to help or donate to the class. This is one of our largest fund raising activities to support our 8th grade class recognition ceremony and activity night. Looking forward to having our Cal Young families here next Wednesday night at 6pm. Go Cougars!

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed a wonderful winter break with family and friends. We’re looking forward to all that 2026 has in store for our Cal Young students, staff, and families.

Immediately following the PTO meeting, we will hold our first 8th Grade Recognition & Celebration Committee Meeting at 6:45 PM, also in the library. This is the time to begin planning recognition and celebration activities for our 8th graders as they prepare for their June send-off.

We encourage as many parents and guardians as possible to get involved. Your participation helps with planning, fundraising, and making these activities meaningful and memorable for our departing 8th graders.

📣 CY Parent Group Meeting – Thursday, Nov. 6 @ 6 PM

Hey Cal Young Families! 🐾💙

We’d love for you to join us this Thursday, November 6th at 6:00 PM in the CYMS Library for our next (soon-to-be official) Cal Young PTO Meeting!

We’ll be sharing the proposed PTO bylaws, talking about ways to get involved—whether that’s helping at events now and then or taking on a more active role—and discussing exciting next steps as we become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

This is a great chance to meet other parents, support our school, and help make Cal Young even better for our awesome kids!

Everyone is welcome, so come join the fun and see how you can get involved.

🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️ Walk & Roll to School — This Wednesday, October 8th! 🌟

Cal Young Families — get ready! From 8:15–8:45 AM, we’ll be celebrating healthy habits and eco-friendly transportation during our Walk & Roll to School Day.

Students who walk, bike, scooter, carpool, or ride the bus to school will earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win awesome prizes — including a skateboard 🛹 and a Hydro Flask 💧!

Parents and guardians — we’d love for you to join in the fun, too!

Let’s make Wednesday, October 8th, a day full of healthy choices and community spirit. See you out there, walking, rolling, and riding to school!

📣 Cal Young Open House – Tuesday, September 23rd!

We’re excited to invite students and families to our Open House next week! 🎉

🍔 5:15–6:15pm | BBQ & Activity Fair
Join us in the cafeteria/courtyard for free hot dogs, chips, cookies, and water. Kona Ice and Tom’s Coffee will also be on site with treats for purchase. Plus, check out tables from student clubs, affinity groups, and our 4J community partners!

🏫 6:15–8:00pm | Open House Program
After dinner, families will head inside. Students will guide parents/guardians through their class schedule for brief visits with teachers. We’ll kick things off together in your student’s Advisory class at 6:15pm.

This is a great chance to connect, explore programs, and celebrate the start of an amazing 2025–26 school year. We can’t wait to see you there! 💙🐾

Join Safe Routes to School; 4J, Bethel, and Springfield School Districts; Cascadia Mobility; the Cities of Eugene and Springfield and Shift Community Cycles for this fun event with bike checks and minor tune-ups and information about bike share. This event is in coordination with Project Hope.
