Elementary families, please join us on September 2nd, from 4:30-6:00 for our open house, meet/greet your teacher. Come say hello, check out the classrooms all shiny and ready for the 2025-2026 school year. Grab some watermelon and check in at the PTO table to get connected! We have a fun scavenger hunt around the school too! Looking forward to seeing our students and families then!

👏 Say hello to Hé Lín Chinese Immersion Elementary! The school board unanimously approved Hé Lín (和林), meaning Harmony Grove, as the new name for the language immersion elementary school, which opened in 2017 and is located at Kennedy Middle School in west Eugene.

Board members said they chose Hé Lín from the four finalist names because it's relatively easy to pronounce (say “Huh Leen”, with both syllables rising in pitch like you're asking a question), contains Chinese characters that are easier for youngsters to write, and that it was the favorite among the students themselves.

We’re proud to welcome the school’s new name—Hé Lín Chinese Immersion Elementary School—as a reflection of its mission and community spirit.

Chinese Immersion Ranks #2 in 4J and #35 in Oregon

At Chinese Language Immersion School, 65% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 75% scored at or above that level for reading. Compared with the district, the school did better in math and better in reading, according to this metric. In Eugene School District 4J, 51% of students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and 40% tested at or above that level for math. Chinese Language Immersion School did better in math and better in reading in this metric compared with students across the state. In Oregon, 44% of students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and 32% tested at or above that level for math.
