Friends of Eugene Public Library

Friends of Eugene Public Library We are a non-profit membership organization to support the Eugene Public Library. The books/magazines we sell are all donated from community members.

Friends of Eugene Public Library is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to strengthening the Library by encouraging people to be involved and providing financial support for programs and projects. Since 1976, the Friends have raised more than 1 million dollars to support Library projects including:
* Children, teen, and adult programs such as story times, classes, performances, lectures

, and Summer Reading for all ages.
* Author talks and special events.
* Start-up of the Sheldon and Bethel branch libraries
* Contributions toward the opening of the Downtown Library
* Audio books, DVDs, music CDs, and other collections
* Library newsletter

We are volunteers from the greater Eugene area. We are always looking for more volunteers, if you have some time you would like to dedicate to the Library. We raise money through our Annual Book Sale in April, the Second Hand Prose book store at the downtown library, and through memberships (financial contributions). To donate books/magazines, bring them to any branch of the library:
* At the Downtown branch - there are book bins in the parking garage under the Library;
* At the Bethel branch - the book bin is across the parking lot inside Rite-Aid;
* At the Sheldon branch - the book bin is located next door in Rite-Aid, just inside the door by the photo counter

Free concert: Platypus Clarinet Orchestra! On Sat., June 6, 4 p.m., all ages are invited to a delightful family-friendly concert by famously fun group of 39 clarinetists -- young and old, pros and amateurs -- from across western Oregon.
Clarinets have been used in a variety of musical styles including classical, folk, popular, and jazz, all represented in this concert program. This orchestra started in 2012 with the name inspired by blending Ducks (Eugene) and Beavers (Corvallis). Currently, its clarinet family includes Eb Soprano, Bb Soprano, Eb Alto, Bb Bass and Eb ContraAlto, creating a big warm sound like a pipe-organ made of wood.

In cooperation with the Skinner Butte parking lot and summit road will be closed until sometime in October. There has been a history of illegal firework activity and brush fires, particularly during the summer season. Closing this area to vehicles helps reduce that risk.

The summit will remain accessible to pedestrians and cyclists (no e-motorcycles) by numerous trails and the paved road that leads to the summit.
