The City of Eugene and EWEB want to hear from you about where to plan for new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Whether you drive an EV or not, your opinion is important as we look toward Eugene's future.

Take the survey at: eugene-or.gov/ev

Your ideas will shape the City's EV infrastructure plans, allowing staff to apply for funding opportunities down the road for implementation. More info about the City's EV strategy can be found at eugene-or.gov/ev.

Survey is open until June 12th.

It’s that time of year! More and more people are using our beloved paths to get around and enjoy the outdoors. It is up to all of us to be respectful path users by following these path etiquette tips:

Paths are for everyone — show courtesy to all path users.

Stay right, pass left — travel on the right-hand side and pass on the left. Stay in your lane.

Give warning when passing — call “passing on your left” or ring a bell.

Go a safe speed —  12mph or less is best when others are present. Slow down around curves.

Follow the speed limit — only go the max speed of 20mph if alone on the path.

Ride legal devices — electric motorcycles are not allowed on the paths. If your ride goes over 20mph with a throttle or doesn’t have functional pedals, it is prohibited everywhere but private property and OHV trails.

Stay visible — use lights and reflective clothing at night (lights are legally required for bikes and scooters).

Dogs on a short leash —  avoid tripping and injuries.

Report issues —  if you see concerning activity on the paths, like speeding, e-moto use, or other reckless behavior, report via MyPDConnect or ParkWatch.

The City will be doing more to make sure that electric motorcycles and other over-powered devices are not riding on our paths in the coming months — stay tuned!

Through infrastructure redesign concepts, encouragement campaigns, and policy recommendations, students are developing ideas to support a more accessible, safer, and connected bicycling experience across the community.

🚲 Join us at the Farmers Market Pavilion on Wednesday, June 3, from 2-4 pm to view class posters and connect with students about their ideas to support the future of bicycle transportation in Eugene.

The event is free and open to the public — we hope to see you there!

The old Autzen footbridge needed a re-do,
UO and the City said “we’ll see it through.”
Work, work, work, to make the repair,
end with a bridge that’s lovely and fair!

The University of Oregon partnered with the City of Eugene to refurbish the Autzen Canoe Canal Footbridge this spring as part of the athletic practice facility upgrades. That work is now done and the bridge is open! Thank you to everyone for your patience during construction.

Join for a bike ride back in time with the Eugene Bike History Ride!
Friday, May 8th at 5:30pm
LTD Downtown Station, Rosa Parks Plaza

This ride will take us from the late 1800's into the modern age; highlighting some of the key historical points of Eugene's history from a bicycle perspective. Meet at the LTD Downtown station (Rosa Parks Plaza) and ride through downtown, to the river, onto the UO campus and into the Whitaker, all the while stopping to learn about Eugene's deep biking history.

The ride will end at a place with refreshments to continue the conversation about ways we can record and share this important history and how it can help carry us into an even better biking future for Eugene.

In recognition of Earth Day, the City of Eugene has released its 2025 Climate Action Plan 2.0 Annual Report. The annual report highlights efforts made across transportation, buildings, waste and resilience that help Eugene reduce emissions and adapt to a changing climate. See the link to report in the comments section!

Continued investments in our bike and pedestrian networks expands the opportunity for people to use sustainable transportation options. Promoting compact development improves walkability and reduces the need for a personal vehicle. Steady uptake of heat pumps is reducing energy use and costs for homes and businesses. Successful programs like residential compost collection and Fix-it Fairs reduce waste sent to the landfill. And as our urban forestry canopy expands, our community breathes cleaner air and has greater resilience to extreme heat.

While more work lies ahead, this annual report marks an opportunity to celebrate progress and leverage the momentum. Read the report to learn about what is going on, and how to help us move towards a more sustainable, resilient future.

Curious about traffic safety in Eugene? Tune in to the City Council Work Session on Wednesday (4/15) at noon for an update from the Vision Zero team at the City of Eugene. Access the meeting or watch the recording at eugene-or.gov/citycouncil

Vision Zero is a data-driven approach to reducing transportation related injuries and saving lives. It's called Vision Zero because the City recognizes that traffic fatalities are preventable and the number of people hurt and killed on Eugene streets should be zero.

Stay tuned for a special report on all things Vision Zero in late April -- sign-up for the InMotion E-Newsletter to be the first to receive the update at eugene-or.gov/3839
