We did two mitzvahs. . .
Yesterday, May 18th in collaboration with Bread and Torah, Oregon Hillel had the incredible opportunity to help build a Torah. With the guidance of Rabbi Linda Motzkin, students and staff sewed the 33rd-35th panels on to a Torah which has not only traveled the globe, but been put together by 4,500+ people.
In addition to this, students worked with Rabbi Jonathan Rubenstein to bake 7 Species Bread in preparation for Shavuot. We learned about the customs behind making the bread, as well as taking home individual loaves.
We are extremely grateful to have taken part in this sacred process and look forward to more meaningful events like this in the future!
