Euless Fire Department

Euless Fire Department The Euless Fire Department is a career department providing fire, emergency medical and specialized rescue and support services to a population of approximately 52,000 citizens in an approximately 11.2 square mile urban area.
(79)

The Department operates two 75 foot quints, a 110 foot quint and three MICU's from three fire stations. The Department responded to 4160 calls for emergency services in 2011. The Department is very active in regional fire issues including participation in the NEFDA group, as well as automatic and mutual aid agreements with surrounding Cities. The Euless Fire Department is ranked one of the best in the State for fire protection and prevention. The Fire Department is very proud to be one of only a handful of departments in the State that has been awarded an ISO CLASS 1 designation by the Insurance Service Organization. The ISO rates municipal fire protection on a scale of Class 1 through Class 10, with a 1 designating excellent service. The department was originally established as a small volunteer organization in 1955 and has grown with the area into the career department of today. We are proud to be associated with our neighboring communities in a joint effort to provide excellent service to the residents of our community and the 14 combined communities comprising the North East Fire Department Association.

Bedford Fire Department Swift Water Training

Thank you Bedford Texas Fire Department for putting this video together of our combined swift water training this week. Texas has more swift water emergencies than any other state. Unfortunately, we also have more first responder fatalities due to rescuers than any other state. That is why train every firefighter in our department on swift water awareness and put each of them in the water during this hands-on class to prepare for a water emergency.

Several members of the Euless Fire Department took part in some incredible forcible entry training provided by the Heart of Texas F.O.O.L.S. in Irving, Texas. The class was appropriately called "Keys to the City" and was the perfect opportunity to hone forcible entry techniques. Here are a couple of pics from the training.

How would you get an incapacitated firefighter out of a second floor window??? Our crews used a variety of techniques during some recent training to find out which methods would work best. This poor training dummy never worked so hard in his life, but we got to practice several different ways to accomplish a task we hope we never need.

Twenty years ago, the Euless Fire Department hosted our first Citizens Fire Academy class. The concept was simple, create a program where the public could come in and see how the fire department operates and what we do on a daily basis. Last weekend, members from the inaugural CFA Class #1 met for breakfast with our former fire chief Lee Koontz and our current fire chief Wes Rhodes. Thank you to this outstanding group of volunteers who have been assisting the Euless Fire Department for two decades!

Yesterday, Station 2/B-shift had the opportunity to work with one of our rookie firefighters on forcible entry using the door prop we built last year with funds donated by our Euless Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association. We can use this prop to train on inward and outward swinging doors and increase the difficulty to challenge ourselves and prepare for entering a locked door during an emergency. Props like this forcible entry door are a great investment for preparing our firefighters for real life scenarios that require extensive skill to perfect. Every day is a training day when you want to be the best!

One of the worst situations a firefighter must prepare for is saving another firefighter who is lost, injured, or incapacitated in a structure fire. These are high stress incidents where training must be second nature in order to successfully save one of our own. B-shift was using "Stress Exposure Training" this week to expose our new hires to MAYDAY scenarios. Progressively applying stress in training enforces the basics and teaches us adaptability in these high-stress/high-risk situations. We hope we never need to use this training in real life, but we always prepare for the worst.

A special thank you and shout out to our friends at the Euless Target who donated four pallets of bottled water to keep our firefighters hydrated this summer. We appreciate this generous gesture and will be grateful when those Texas temps hit 100+ in just a couple more months.

In this video, our newest firefighter/paramedic recruit is practicing donning his bunker gear and SCBA in timed drills with other members of the Euless Fire Department. Speed is obviously important when responding to a fire scene, and putting on our bunker gear quickly is one area we train on constantly in order to shave precious seconds off our response time. The training never stops in our department because our citizens deserve the absolute best when we show up for any emergency call.

Getting to Know Your Euless Fire Department

Welcome to the Euless Fire Department page!

We created this page several years ago as a means to reach out to our citizens and give you an easy and convenient method to find out information about your fire department. This page is continuously updated with the most current news and photos of local fire department events, emergency responses, and critical fire safety messages to keep you and your family safe. We encourage all Euless citizens to “like” and “follow” this page to stay up to date with what is going on in your community. And even if you don’t live or work in Euless, we still fill this page with important, and often entertaining, photos and videos showing a behind-the-scenes look at one of the best fire departments in the country (we might be just a little bit biased).

Although we were originally established as a small volunteer organization in 1955 to serve just a few hundred citizens, we have continued to grow along with our bustling community into a career fire department that provides fire, emergency medical, and specialized rescue services to the 55,000+ citizens who call Euless home and the tens of thousands more who work, visit or pass through our community each and every day. We are proud to partner with our neighboring communities in a joint effort to provide service to all of the residents of the 14 combined Tarrant County cities that make up the North East Fire Department Association, known locally as NEFDA. Our department staffs highly skilled firefighter/paramedics who operate both fire and medical units from each of the three fire stations strategically located around our 11.2 square mile coverage area to provide a rapid response for all types of emergency situations. Last year we responded to over 4,700 calls for emergency services, and that number continues to grow each year. The Euless Fire Department is ranked one of the best in Texas for fire protection and fire prevention. We are honored to be recognized as one of only a handful of departments in the state to achieve an ISO CLASS 1 designation by the Insurance Service Organization, the highest rating possible.

We encourage our citizens to take advantage of one or more of the fun and educational classes we offer each year such as our Citizens Fire Academy, Kids Fire Academy, and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program. These classes give you an opportunity to meet and interact with the individuals tasked with keeping you and your family safe, all while having a blast and getting to know other Euless citizens. Feel free to check out our website http://www.eulesstx.gov/fire to sign up for one of these classes or call 817-685-1600 for more information.

I cannot say enough about how awesome the Euless Fire Department is....especially Station 1. We have had to call them so many times to help us get my Dad up when he has fallen and they have been so kind and always treat him with dignity and respect. They are a huge blessing! Thank you for your service! Joyce Grant Curtis
We just wanted to thank Euless Fire Station No. 1 for helping my baby boy this evening... I didn’t get their names because I was in complete shock, but the two gentlemen were so polite, kind, gentle, caring, informative, and compassionate. It took them so fast to arrive too! My whole family felt at ease and loved their company. Heroes in our eyes... I feel so much better after seeing/talking to them. If you guys are reading this, THANK YOU guys SO much! We are forever grateful❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would like to Thank the Euless Fire Department for the quick response to our residence this morning at 2:45 for medical assistance that my wife required in her difficulty of breathing. All of you who responded showed a great degree of respect and professionalism for the situation that was occurring, especially to the paramedic who tended to her. Once again, Thanks for your great response. My utmost respect goes out to you all. Al Myers
To the Euless Fire Department, Thank you for everything that you do for the citizens of Euless. With the COVID-19 precautions in place, there may be a need for working longer than normal hours. Some of your first responders may have pets at home with no one to take care of them. We would like to offer our drop-in service to any first responder who has pets that need care while they are at work. The visits would be completely FREE and limited to one every 6 hours. The visits must take place in our service area and will continue until the schools reopen and citizens are allowed to return to work. Our sitters will take every precaution to prevent the spread of germs from one house to another by sanitizing their hands before entering a person’s home, wearing a face mask and washing their hands before leaving. Our servicing zip codes are 76021, 76022, 76039, 76051, 76053, 76054, 76092, 76102, 76111, 76117, 76118, 76120, 76131, 76137, 76148, 76177, 76180, 76182, 76244, 76248 or 76262. If any of your first responders live within our service area and would like to take advantage of our offer, please have them call the number below. We look forward to serving you. Sincerely, Rose Marie Owner, Paws & Claws Pet Services 817-380-8480
