Food for People is looking for a Warehouse Volunteer Project & Facilities Specialist. This position combines warehouse volunteer project coordination with custodial and facilities support. Duties include supervising warehouse volunteer projects, such as bag packing, produce sorting and crating, and sorting and stocking donated food.

Wildfire preparedness is an ongoing process. Take time throughout the year to review your emergency supplies, reduce wildfire risks around your property, and stay informed about conditions in your area.

A few simple steps can make a difference:
-Review and update your emergency kit
-Sign up for local emergency alerts
-Clear leaves, vegetation, and other combustible materials around your home
-Review your wildfire preparedness plan annually

Food for People will provide emergency food distributions to communities affected by the MP18 fire and related road closures in Eastern Humboldt. For communities who have been cut off by the closure of Hwy 96, Food for People will provide Emergency Food Distributions Thursday 8/20 in:
- Weitchpec (Tribal Office), 23001 CA 96): from 12-1 pm
- Orleans (Karuk Senior Center): from 12:30–1:30 pm

Distributions will continue while supplies last and will include a combination of fresh produce, perishable foods, and non-perishable items. To limit residents’ exposure to poor air conditions, Thursday’s distributions will be limited to approximately one hour. Residents seeking food assistance are encouraged to arrive as close to the distribution start time as possible. Supplies will be limited.

Food for People’s regular Mobile Produce Pantry schedule will also serve this region, weather and fire conditions permitting, on the following dates:
- Willow Creek (Dream Quest): Wednesday, August 19, 10 am-12 pm
- Weitchpec (Tribal Office): Tuesday, August 25, 11 am-1 pm (rescheduled distribution)
- Orleans (Karuk Senior Center): Tuesday, August 25, 11 am-1 pm (rescheduled distribution)
- Hoopa (Hoopa Shopping Center): Wednesday, August 26, 10 am-12 pm.

All distributions are subject to cancellation or shortened hours depending on fire and air quality conditions. Food for People will notify residents if there is a cancellation or change in times.
