The 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 (𝗕𝗟𝗥) 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗖) is offering the 𝗔𝗪𝗥-𝟯𝟲𝟮: 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 course coming up next week on September 4th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This course will give participants an understanding of the science behind floods, flood forecasting, flood risk assessment and best practices for preparation and mitigation of flooding. Through this course, participants will increase their abilities to interpret forecasts and will enhance their own preparedness from short term to long term flooding, to sudden flooding, such as flash floods. This training will be held in the Powers Creek Community Room at Blue Lake Rancheria (1 Aiyekwee Loop, Blue Lake, CA 95525). The 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 (𝗕𝗟𝗥) 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗖) provides hands-on education and workforce development training focused on emergency preparedness, disaster response, and long-term community resilience. Through partnerships with regional, state, and national agencies, RTIC offers courses that are designed to strengthen individual skill sets while building safer, more prepared communities across the North Coast and beyond.

The Planning & Building Department is developing an ordinance to allow low-impact camping areas in rural unincorporated Humboldt County and wants to hear your thoughts.

A workshop will be held at the Planning Commission meeting on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. to share information about the draft ordinance and receive input from the Planning Commission and the public.
