This course will give participants an understanding of the science behind floods, flood forecasting, flood risk assessment and best practices for preparation and mitigation of flooding. Through this course, participants will increase their abilities to interpret forecasts and will enhance their own preparedness from short term to long term flooding, to sudden flooding, such as flash floods. This training will be held in the Powers Creek Community Room at Blue Lake Rancheria (1 Aiyekwee Loop, Blue Lake, CA 95525). The Planning & Building Department is developing an ordinance to allow low-impact camping areas in rural unincorporated Humboldt County and wants to hear your thoughts.

A workshop will be held at the Planning Commission meeting on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. to share information about the draft ordinance and receive input from the Planning Commission and the public.

If you would like to share your input on this ordinance, please consider attending.
