Rise and shine Class 138!

Class 138 received instruction in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Tactical Medicine (TacMed). As law enforcement officers, they are often the first to arrive on scene and must be prepared to provide immediate lifesaving care. This training equips the cadets with the knowledge and skills to administer first aid, stabilize injured individuals, and respond effectively until personnel with a higher level of medical training arrive.

Class 138 began its journey into Lifetime Fitness by establishing their baseline fitness levels. Cadets completed one-minute push-up and sit-up assessments, as well as a timed 1.5-mile run, to measure their current level of physical fitness and provide a benchmark for tracking their progress throughout the Academy.
Lifetime Fitness is about much more than improving physical performance. The program also emphasizes the importance of developing healthy eating habits, proper nutrition, recovery, and overall wellness. These lessons are designed to help cadets build lifelong habits that will support their health, resilience, and effectiveness throughout their law enforcement careers.

As the first week comes to a close for Class 138, we’ve already seen a great deal of potential. These cadets still have a lot of hard work ahead of them, but they’re embracing the challenge with determination and professionalism. We look forward to watching their growth and progress over the coming weeks as they continue their journey toward earning their Basic Post Certificate.

Today marks Day One of the next journey for Class 138. Over the next 24 weeks, these cadets will undergo intensive training that will prepare them to successfully earn their Basic POST Certificate. We wish them the best as they begin this challenging and rewarding journey toward a career in law enforcement.

Today at the College of the Redwoods Police Academy, cadets put their training to the test by applying their 16 hours of crime scene evidence and forensic instruction in a full hands-on scenario. From securing the scene to properly collecting, documenting, and preserving evidence.

Exercises like this are critical in preparing future law enforcement officers to handle real-world situations where accuracy and integrity can make or break a case. Great work by all involved!
