Attention all citizens, from Mayor Johnson. Please, please, please help us to clean up Eutaw. FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency, Terri Sewell, Senator Katie Boyd Britt, Joe Biden, have been very helpful to allow us to have a 100% reimbursement of all disaster expenses from March 18th and previous. All citizens need to have their storm debris to the right of way as soon as possible before the end of the month. All citizens with property damage that need assistance should contact City Hall. After April 1st we will begin enforcing property maintenance and code enforcement for properties that have been damaged or that have been affected by the January 12th Tornado. Please move your debris to the right of way.

Debris contractors will resume operations today! Let’s get Eutaw cleaned up… we will be using the community notification system today to remind everyone and will also be doing a required monthly proficiency test.

We have made significant changes to our forecast...Strong to severe storms will move from northwest to southeast late tonight through Sunday morning. Damaging winds up to 60 mph and a couple of tornadoes appear possible. Severe storms are no longer expected Sunday afternoon.

From Mayor Johnson “Good morning TEAM Eutaw. Please uplift Larry Sanford in prayer. He had a stoke and in the hospital. I spoke with him this morning. He feels better but on a 24 hour watch. Thank God he got to the hospital in time before major damages occurred. Larry is a blessing to our team. He has worked faithfully under different Mayors and he has kept water flowing to our citizens for years…”

Give - Mississippi Baptist Convention Board

The Mississippi Baptist Convention's Disaster Response Team provided 497 volunteer hours and 105 equipment hours from January 20th to January 21st to help the City of Eutaw recover from the January 12th storm damage. We greatly appreciate the support of our volunteer agencies! While the City of Eutaw, as a government agency, does not support or prefer any specific religious preference or denomination, we would like to acknowledge the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board for their support in our recovery. Good Morning Eutaw! We have certainly been up watching the weather for you. Hopefully everyone has had a chance to sleep in a little today.

Current forecast guidance indicates the storm system has slowed down and will affect our area between 9am to 11am. The radar image you are viewing is from Jackson MS. Please notice there are no active warnings at this time anywhere in the southeast (aside from flood related concerns) and in Alabama there are no active warnings of any kind. The issued tornado watch currently does not include our area.

At this time, we are not anticipating any significant threat to our area but keep in mind, weather can change and we are carefully monitoring the situation.

We are currently watching the weather conditions in order to be prepared for the potential for severe weather this evening. At this time, based on current forecast guidance, we’re not expecting significant severe weather in our area. Please be weather aware this evening and have multiple forms of warning. In the event, a tornado watch is issued, the City of Eutaw will open the RH Young Community Center for shelter, but only if a tornado watch is issued affecting the Greene county area.
